Glenn Harold Burdette
May 7, 1947 β October 20, 2026
It is with great sadness yet deep gratitude for a life well-lived that we announce the passing of Glenn Harold Burdette, who left this world peacefully on October 20, 2026, at Atlee Hill Nursing Home. Born on May 7, 1947, in Cedar Grove, Maryland, Glenn was the beloved son of Harold and Eva Burdette.
Glenn's journey began in the small town of Cedar Grove, where he was raised by his devoted parents. He was a proud graduate of Damascus High School, class of 1975, and soon after, he dedicated a part of his life to serving in the United States Reserve.
Glenn worked at various places, from the Mount Airy gas station to Montgomery County Public Schools (MCPS), before finding his true calling with the United States Postal Service, from which he retired.
Glenn had an infectious love for life and an indomitable spirit. Despite being diagnosed with Parkinson's in 1991, he never let it define him. Giving up was never an option for Glenn; he faced each day with courage and determination, never once complaining about his condition. His resilience inspired all who knew him.
Outside of his professional life, Glenn was a man of many passions. He was an avid music lover, frequently attending rock and roll concerts of legendary artists such as Bruce Springsteen, Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young, and Fleetwood Mac. His love for music was matched only by his enthusiasm for bowling at Mount Airy Bowling Alley. Glenn also had a knack for mechanics, often found working on cars and lawn mowers, fixing anything that came his way.
Glenn's warmth, humor, and zest for life left an indelible mark on his family, particularly his cherished niece, Jessica Jamison, who carries his memory in her heart. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews, who will continue to honor his legacy.
In honoring Glenn's life, we would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Dr. Stephen Grill, Jessica Kitzmiller, and the entire staff at Atlee Hill Nursing Home for their unwavering care and compassion. Your dedication to Glenn's comfort and dignity in his final days will never be forgotten.
In accordance with his wishes, a private funeral ceremony will be held. Glenn will forever hold a special place in Jessica Jamison's heart, as she fondly recalls living in his world, a world that was brighter because of him.
Though we mourn his passing, we celebrate the remarkable life Glenn led and the joy he brought to all who knew him. Rest in peace, dear Glenn, knowing you have touched so many lives and will be profoundly missed.
