Glenn Edward Elmer

April 30, 1954 — February 23, 2026

It is with heavy hearts and profound appreciation for a life well-lived that we announce the passing of Glenn Edward Elmer, who departed this world peacefully on February 23, 2026, at the age of 71. Glenn was a beloved father, brother, friend, and a source of joy to many, whose vibrant spirit and kindness left an indelible mark on all who knew him. Born on April 30, 1954, in North Adams, Massachusetts, Glenn was the cherished son of the late Glenn H. Elmer and Jacqueline A. Bard. He grew up with a close-knit family that included his dear sisters, Mary Wiles and Barbara Jones, both of whom predeceased him. Glenn's early years were filled with laughter and love, a foundation that would shape his life and the lives of those around him. Glenn attended Mohawk Regional High School, where he nurtured his curiosity and developed a love for learning. This passion for knowledge continued throughout his life, particularly in his fascination with world religions. After high school, Glenn answered the call to serve his country, enlisting in the United States Navy. From 1972 to 1976, he served with honor and distinction, forging lifelong friendships and experiencing the world beyond his hometown. Upon returning to civilian life, Glenn found joy in simple pleasures. He was a dedicated laborer, a role that suited his strong work ethic and integrity, until a stroke at the age of 54 altered his path. Despite this life-changing event, Glenn's resilience shone through as he adapted to new circumstances with grace and humor. A long-time member of the Westfield Assemblies of God Church, Glenn's faith was a cornerstone of his life, offering him comfort and guiding his actions. He was known for his impish grin, knack for storytelling, and an endless supply of dad jokes, which he shared liberally to brighten the days of those around him. Glenn valued new experiences, whether it was diving into a new video game, watching movies, riding motorcycles, or taking long drives to appreciate the beauty of the world. Glenn is survived by his beloved children, Heidi and Michael Elmer, both residing in Massachusetts, who were the pride and joy of his life. He leaves behind his devoted siblings: Rosemarie of Gig Harbor, WA; Wanda of Las Vegas, NV; Sterling of MA; and William. He is also survived by his cherished cousin, Ron Shepard, as well as the many dedicated caregivers who made his days brighter, especially Kadian, whose ability to make him smile was truly special. A celebration of Glenn's life will be held on April 10, 2026, at 3:00 PM at the Agawam Veteran Cemetery. Family and friends are invited to gather in remembrance and to honor the legacy of a man who brought laughter and love to all he met. The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the caregivers at CareOne at Redstone for walking this journey with them. Their kindness and dedication were a source of comfort and strength to Glenn and his family. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Glenn's memory to a charity of your choice, as a tribute to his generous and caring spirit. Though Glenn has left this world, his memory remains a beacon of light and laughter, reminding us all to cherish every moment, embrace new experiences, and never underestimate the power of a well-timed dad joke.
