Glenn Edward Elmer

April 30, 1954 — February 23, 2026

With heavy hearts and cherished memories, we announce the peaceful passing of Glenn Edward Elmer on February 23, 2026, at the age of 71. Glenn's journey began in North Adams, Massachusetts, on April 30, 1954, as he was welcomed into the world by his loving parents, Glenn and Jacqueline (Bostwick) Elmer. His life was a mosaic of laughter, service, and unwavering kindness, leaving an indelible mark on everyone who had the privilege of knowing him. Glenn was a spirited soul whose life was a testament to dedication and service. A proud graduate of Mohawk Regional High School, he found his calling in the U.S. Navy at the tender age of 17. He served his country with honor aboard the USS Newport News from 1971 to 1974 and continued his commitment in the Naval Reserves until 1977. For his service, he was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, a testament to his bravery and dedication. Beyond his military service, Glenn dedicated his life to supporting his family and helping others through various careers. He was a guiding light, always seeking to provide for those he loved. His involvement with the Westfield Assemblies of God church and their Royal Rangers program during his children's youth reflected his commitment to community and faith. Glenn's insatiable curiosity and love for learning led him to explore the world's religions, and he found joy in sports, video games, and movies. An aficionado of storytelling and music, he delighted in sharing long drives filled with laughter and song. Known for his impish grin and infamous dad jokes, Glenn's humor was infectious, and he had a knack for napping in the most unexpected places. Despite the challenges of declining health, his spirit remained unbroken, and he continued to bring smiles to those around him. Preceded in death by his beloved grandparents, Charles and Jennette Tenet, his parents, and his siblings, Mary Wiles, Barbara Jones, and James Elmer, Glenn's legacy endures in the lives of his surviving children, Heidi and Michael Elmer. He also leaves behind his cherished sisters, Rosemarie and Wanda, and brothers, Sterling and William, along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and countless friends who became family. A celebration of Glenn's life will be held on April 10, 2026, at 3:00 PM at the Massachusetts Veterans Cemetery, located at 1390 Main St. in Agawam, MA. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to Holyoke Community College, a cause close to Glenn’s heart, at Holyoke Community College Donations. The Elmer family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the dedicated caregivers at CareOne at Redstone for their unwavering support and compassion over the past 17 years. Special thanks to Pastor Bob and Kadian, whose kindness and joy brought warmth to Glenn's days. As we bid farewell to Glenn, we hold onto the laughter, the stories, and the love he so freely gave. His legacy is one of acceptance, joy, and a welcoming heart. May we all strive to live with the same kindness and embrace the differences that make us uniquely beautiful, just as Glenn did.
