Glenda Tyler
March 14, 1942 — May 3, 2026
Longview, TX – On the gentle morning of May 3rd, 2026, Glenda Tyler, aged 84, peacefully departed this world in the comforting embrace of her loving family. Born on March 14, 1942, to Glen and Gracie Harper, Glenda was a beacon of warmth, wisdom, and love—a soul who touched the hearts of all who knew her.
Glenda's journey was graced with a deep and abiding love when she married Edward "Jake" Tyler on April 15, 1961. Together, they shared 35 wonderful years filled with laughter, adventure, and the joy of raising four cherished daughters. Though Jake preceded her in death, their legacy of love continues to thrive through their family.
Glenda is predeceased by her parents, Glen and Gracie, her sisters Norma Monroe and Gwen Buckley, her beloved daughter Pamela Buchanan, and her grandson Gregory Phillips. She leaves behind a family that carries her spirit forward: her son-in-law Tim Buchanan; daughters Tracy (and husband O.C. Phillips Jr.), Misty (and husband Jimmy Gray), and Kristy (and husband Nick Garza). Her grandchildren—Ben Buchanan, TJ Buchanan (and wife Jamie), Daina Perry, Daimen Perry, Kayla Tyler, Jeaniene Phillips, McKena Taylor, Colby Taylor, Osceola Phillips III, Jacob Taylor, and Gracie Gray—hold her memory close, as do her 11 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson. Glenda's love extended beyond her immediate family to numerous nieces, nephews, and many honorary children and grandchildren who looked to her for guidance and love.
Glenda had a passion for life that was contagious. An avid reader, she often found solace in the pages of a good book and joy in the melodies of her favorite music. Her back porch was her sanctuary, where she delighted in watching the graceful dance of hummingbirds and breathing in the fragrance of her garden, a testament to her appreciation of nature's simple wonders.
Known for her quick wit and a knack for making everyone feel at home, Glenda had a special talent for sharing light-hearted, smart-aleck remarks with her grandchildren, creating a tapestry of laughter and memories that will be cherished forever.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Heart to Heart Hospice for the compassionate care and support shown to Glenda and her family during her final days.
A service to celebrate Glenda's extraordinary life will be held on May 7th, 2026, at 2:00 PM at the Rosewood Cemetery, located at 1884 Farm to Market Rd 1844, Longview, TX 75605. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to the American Cancer Society, honoring Glenda's enduring spirit and commitment to hope and healing.
As we bid farewell to a remarkable woman, we carry her in our hearts, forever inspired by her kindness, humor, and unwavering love. Glenda's legacy is one of joy and compassion, a testament to a life well-lived and a soul profoundly cherished.
