Glenda Kay Layne

December 29, 1955 — April 17, 2026

In loving memory of Glenda Kay Layne, who quietly slipped away from us on April 17, 2026, at the age of 70, after a courageous battle with cancer. She departed this world from the comfort of her home, surrounded by the love and warmth of her family. Glenda was a cherished wife, mother, grandmother, and friend who left an indelible mark on everyone fortunate enough to know her. Glenda was born on December 29, 1955, in the vibrant city of Dallas, Texas, to the late Elzie and Ethel McAlister. Growing up in a household filled with love, she learned the values of kindness and generosity at an early age. These values became the cornerstones of her life, as she touched the hearts of many with her boundless compassion and welcoming spirit. In 1985 Glenda met her soulmate, Ronnie Layne, in Bells, Texas. They were married on September 7 of that year, embarking on a beautiful journey that would span many decades. Together, they built a life centered around their family, which was always Glenda's pride and joy. Glenda was a dedicated homemaker, finding immense joy in creating a warm and loving home for her family. Her greatest pleasure was tending to her lush vegetable garden, where she spent countless hours nurturing life. This passion for cultivating growth extended beyond her garden, as she nurtured the lives of her children and grandchildren with the same love and care. She leaves behind a legacy of love in her husband, Ronnie, and their children: daughters Kasey Barrera, Amanda Layne, Stephanie Layne, and son William VanNurden and his wife Jaime. Glenda was a devoted grandmother to five grandchildren who brought immense joy to her life. Although she has joined her parents and beloved grandson, Layne Garrett Strong, in eternal rest, her memory will continue to be a guiding light for her family. Glenda's warmth and hospitality were felt by all who crossed her path. She had an extraordinary gift for making everyone feel welcome and valued, offering a listening ear and a comforting presence. Her kindness and generosity were unmatched, and the countless lives she touched will forever be grateful for her profound influence. Her family will honor her life with a private funeral ceremony, celebrating the incredible woman she was. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to the American Cancer Society, a cause close to Glenda's heart. As we bid farewell to Glenda Kay Layne, we hold onto the precious memories she leaves behind. Her life was a testament to the power of love, generosity, and kindness. Though she is no longer with us, her spirit will continue to thrive in the hearts of those who were blessed to know her. Rest in peace, dear Glenda. You are deeply loved and will be dearly missed.
