It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Glenda Hornes, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, who left this world on July 6, 2026, while surrounded by her cherished family and friends. Born on May 30, 1957, in Benton Harbor, Michigan, Glenda was a beacon of strength, love, and joy to all who knew her.
Glenda was the treasured daughter of the late Etta Jean Booker and Santee Sanders. She was also predeceased by her parents, Etta Jean Booker & Williams Booker, and Santee Sanders. Her legacy of kindness and resilience lives on in the hearts of those she leaves behind, particularly her devoted husband, Ollie Hornes, with whom she shared 42 beautiful years. Together, they built a family rooted in love, laughter, and mutual respect.
An alumna of Benton Harbor area schools, Glenda carried her educational experiences with pride throughout her life. She was a dedicated member of the Brown Missionary Baptist Church, where she found spiritual nourishment under the guidance of Pastor Bartholomew Orr. Her faith was a cornerstone of her existence, providing her with strength and solace.
Glenda was a woman of diverse interests and passions. She found immense joy in traveling and spending time with her family, with whom she shared countless precious moments. Known for her impeccable style, Glenda was admired as one of the best-dressed women by those who knew her. Her vibrant personality was matched by her love for life, often expressing itself in her favorite pastime of visiting the dog track with her beloved Ollie and dear friend Tawanna.
Her family was the center of her universe, and she was fiercely devoted to them. Her children and grandchildren held a special place in her heart, and she never hesitated to offer guidance, always delivered with love and sincerity. Glenda was blessed with eight grandchildren, who will undoubtedly carry forward her legacy of love.
The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to all those who supported them during Glenda's final days. Special thanks are offered to the doctors, nurses, and staff who cared for her with such compassion.
A service celebrating Glenda's life will be held at Robbins Brothers, where family and friends will gather to honor her enduring spirit.
