Glen Floyd
June 12, 1965 — June 5, 2026
It is with profound sorrow and heartfelt memories that we announce the unexpected passing of Glen Floyd, who departed this world on June 5, 2026, just a week shy of his 61st birthday. Glen was born on June 12, 1965, in the serene landscape of Cherokee County, Alabama, a place that held his heart and shaped the remarkable man he became.
Glen was the beloved son of the late Calvin and Darel Floyd, who predeceased him and undoubtedly welcomed him with open arms in his eternal resting place. He leaves behind his cherished wife, Amanda, who was his steadfast partner in life's journey, and his treasured daughter, Savannah Gallagher, and her husband Paul. Glen's family was his anchor, and he found immense joy in teaching Savannah everything he knew, from the intricacies of technology to the art of fishing, instilling in her the values of curiosity and perseverance.
A proud graduate of Cherokee County High School, Class of 1983, Glen was a man of intelligence and innovation. For 25 years, he dedicated his professional life to managing technology at various healthcare facilities. His colleagues knew him as the person who could always be relied upon to make the impossible possible. His analytical mind and problem-solving prowess were unparalleled, and his contributions were invaluable.
Glen’s love for technology was matched only by his passion for the great outdoors. From the day Weiss Lake was first flooded, he found peace and pleasure in its waters, casting his line with hope and patience. His RV adventures and hours spent tinkering with electronics and vehicles in his shop were a testament to his boundless curiosity and zest for life. He was a lifelong learner, eagerly embracing new technologies and researching future innovations, always one step ahead.
Known for his generous heart and unwavering loyalty, Glen was a friend to many. He was a man who lived life to the fullest, a rarity in today's world, and his unique spirit touched everyone he met. Those who had the privilege of knowing Glen understood that he was truly one of a kind—a man whose essence can’t be fully captured by words, and whose absence will be deeply felt.
In addition to his immediate family, Glen is survived by his special cousins, Jerry Hilburn, Trace Hilburn, and Johnny Angle. Their shared memories and familial bonds are a testament to the enduring connections he valued throughout his life.
A service to honor Glen’s life will be held on what would have been his 61st birthday, June 12, 2026, at 4:00 PM at New Hope Funeral Home, located at 2500 Oak Grove Road, New Hope, AL 35760. Family and friends are invited to join in celebrating the extraordinary life of a man who left an indelible mark on all who knew him.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Glen’s memory to a technology education charity of your choice, ensuring that his legacy of innovation and knowledge continues to inspire future generations.
Glen Floyd will be missed beyond words, but his spirit will forever remain in the hearts of those he touched. May he rest in peace, knowing he was deeply loved and will never be forgotten.
