Gladys Concepcion

In loving memory of Gladys Concepcion, who passed away peacefully on September 22, 2026, at the age of 82. Born on February 21, 1944, in Puerto Rico, Gladys was the cherished daughter of the late Feliciana Andino and Jose Concepcion. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Juan Serrano, with whom she shared a lifetime of love and happiness. Gladys's vibrant spirit and warm heart left an indelible mark on everyone she met. As a devoted mother, she is survived by her two children, Frances Serrano and Michael Serrano, who were the pride and joy of her life. Her legacy of love and laughter continues through her adored grandson, John Patchell. Additionally, she leaves behind her dear sister, Hilda Laboy, with whom she shared countless cherished memories. An ardent fan of Elvis, Gladys found joy in music and spent many happy hours listening to his timeless hits. Her love for gardening reflected her nurturing spirit, as she cultivated beauty and life wherever she went. A devout Catholic, Gladys's faith was her guiding light, providing her with strength and comfort throughout her life. Known for her larger-than-life personality, Gladys was affectionately referred to as a "super diva" by those closest to her. Her boundless love for her family and her infectious enthusiasm for life inspired all who knew her. A celebration of Gladys's life will take place on October 2, 2026, at Modell Funeral Home, located at 7710 South Cass Avenue, Darien, IL. Family and friends are invited to gather in her honor, to share stories and memories of the remarkable woman she was. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Gladys's name to a charity of your choice. Her memory will forever be cherished in the hearts of those she touched.
