Gilbert (Terry) Mills Hutchison III

April 27, 1960 — June 20, 2026

It is with profound sadness and deep respect that we announce the passing of Gilbert (Terry) Mills Hutchison III, who peacefully left this world on June 20, 2026, at his beloved home. Born on April 27, 1960, in Greensboro, North Carolina, Terry's life was a testament to kindness, intellect, and an unwavering dedication to his family, friends, and community. Terry was the son of the late Gilbert Mills Hutchison Jr. and Elizabeth Pledger Hopkins, and he was lovingly raised alongside a large, blended family. Predeceased by his parents and step-parents, Bob and Brenda Hilemn, Terry is survived by his devoted wife of 36 years, Nanette, and their cherished daughter, Madison. His legacy of love and laughter will also be carried forward by his siblings, Jason Hilemn (Abby), Keelie Ryan (Bill), Heidi Hilemn, Carroll Nance (Wayne), Ashley Driver, Holly Young, and Wally Hopkins (Trish), as well as his stepfather, Wallace Hopkins (Marge), and numerous nieces and nephews. A proud alumnus of Northeast Guilford High School, Class of 1978, Terry embarked on a career that spanned over four decades. He dedicated 27 years to Volvo Trucks North America and Mack Trucks, where he formed lifelong friendships and honed his expertise. In the latter part of his career, Terry served as a District Parts Manager at Paccar Parts/Kenworth Trucks, a position he held with distinction until his retirement in December 2024. Terry's talents extended far beyond his professional life. He was gifted with practical skills and possessed a curious mind that could troubleshoot everything from home repairs to computer issues. Always willing to lend a hand, he generously shared his knowledge with friends and family, leaving an indelible mark on all who knew him. One of Terry's most endearing qualities was his remarkable memory. He had an uncanny ability to recall stories, dates, and details from the past, enriching those around him with tales that others had long forgotten. His presence was a wellspring of warmth and wisdom, and his stories will continue to be cherished by all who had the privilege of hearing them. Terry and Nanette shared a deep and enduring love that began on November 4, 1989, when they were united in marriage. Their life together was filled with joy, love, and the shared adventures of raising their daughter, Madison, who was the light of Terry's life. In honor of Terry's wishes, a private funeral ceremony will be held to celebrate his life and memory. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to the Animal Rescue Foster Program, 711 Milner Drive, Greensboro, NC 27410, a cause close to Terry's heart. As we bid farewell to Terry, we do so with a heavy heart but also with gratitude for having known such a remarkable man. His spirit will forever guide us, and his love will remain in our hearts always. Rest in peace, dear Terry. You will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered.
