It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Gilbert M. Chavez, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend. Gilbert passed away peacefully on July 28, 2026, at his home, surrounded by the love and care of his cherished wife, Leona. Born on July 11, 1970, in Boulder, Colorado, Gilbert embraced the beauty of life with an open heart, touching the lives of everyone around him. Gilbert was the cherished son of Barbara Martinez-Solis and the late Gilbert Chavez Sr. He leaves behind his devoted spouse, Leona Garcia-Chavez, with whom he shared a beautiful journey of 15 years. Their love story was a testament to the power of commitment and tenderness, celebrated by a wedding on July 7, surrounded by close friends and family. Gilbert lovingly helped raise Leona's two children, and together they delighted in the joy of their grandchildren: Joe C. Tellez, Arishem Cuch, Corbin Cuch, and Alexis. A proud graduate of Highland High School in 1990, Gilbert dedicated his professional life to the renowned Octopus Car Wash. His career was marked by hard work and dedication, earning him the respect and admiration of colleagues and customers alike. Gilbert was a man of varied interests and passions. He was an ardent supporter of the Denver Broncos and found immense joy in music, attending countless concerts and collecting memorabilia, rocks, hats, and Hot Wheels cars. He thrived in the vibrant energy of car shows, community events, and sporting games, especially those of the Isotopes and the Lobos. His green thumb was evident in his beloved garden, where he found peace and satisfaction. His warm and generous spirit was felt by all who knew him. Gilbert had a heart of gold; he was compassionate, supportive, and always willing to lend a helping hand. His adventurous spirit and willingness to embrace new experiences were qualities that inspired those around him. He possessed a playful, childlike wonder that endeared him to people of all ages, creating special bonds that will never be forgotten. The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to The Ambercare employees, Trujillo Funeral Home, Human Resources, friends, coworkers, church family, and extended family for their unwavering support during this difficult time. May you all receive much blessings in return. In accordance with Gilbert's wishes, a private funeral ceremony will be held. Those wishing to honor Gilbert's memory may do so by donating to a charity of their choice. Gilbert M. Chavez will be remembered for his enduring love, his infectious laughter, and his unwavering kindness. His legacy of love and generosity will live on in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know him. Rest in peace, dear Gilbert.
