Gertrude peacefully departed this world on May 19, 2026, at the age of 97, leaving behind a legacy of love, strength, and compassion.
Born on January 31, 1929, in the picturesque town of Ringgold, Virginia, Gertrude was the cherished daughter of Judge Luck and Katie Motley Luck. Growing up in a home filled with warmth and values, she carried these foundational principles throughout her life, touching the hearts of those fortunate enough to know her.
Gertrude's life was a testament to resilience and dedication. She was a woman of quiet strength and unwavering grace. Her life was a tapestry woven with threads of family, community, and unwavering faith. Known for her gentle spirit and warm smile, she was a beacon of kindness, nurturing all who came into her presence.
She is survived by her loving daughter, Joan Davis, and her cherished son, Shands, along with her dear son-in-law, Wesley. Her legacy continues through her beloved grandchildren, Tiffany McLean and Dayatra Shands Tucker (Franklin), who brought immense joy and pride into her life. Gertrude's love extended to her great-grandchildren, Iman Quintera, John Davis III, Ian Carrington Davis, Aaliyah Grace Tucker, and Ian Tucker, who were a source of light and happiness in her later years.
Gertrude possessed an unyielding devotion to her family, instilling in them the values of integrity, respect, and unconditional love. She found joy in the simple pleasures of life, whether it was tending to her garden, sharing stories, or preparing meals for family gatherings, which were always filled with laughter and love.
