In Loving Memory

Geroid "Roy" Ziegler
June 24, 1949 — October 11, 2026
It is with profound sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Geroid "Roy" Ziegler on October 11, 2026, at the age of 77. Born on June 24, 1949, in Benton, Missouri, Roy was a beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend to many.
Roy was the cherished son of the late Joseph and Linda Ziegler and was predeceased by his parents, his brother Norbert Ziegler, and his beloved wife, Lenora Ziegler. Roy and Lenora shared 51 wonderful years of marriage, having been united in love on July 31, 1971. Together, they created a family filled with warmth and laughter, raising two sons, Erik Ziegler and Luke (Melanie) Ziegler.
Roy’s legacy continues through his five grandchildren: Jesse Ziegler, Seth (Kathleen) Little, Sarah (Tanner) Almond, Kyler Ziegler, and Kaleb (Allie) Ziegler. He also leaves behind four great-grandchildren, who brought him immense joy: Charlotte Little, Grayson and Jaxton Almond, and Malakai Ziegler. Roy is survived by his siblings, Gary (Roxie) Ziegler, Ralph Ziegler, and Therese (Richard) Glueck, all of whom he held dear.
A proud graduate of Kelly High School in 1967, Roy went on to serve his country with honor in the United States Army, achieving the rank of Sergeant. His service was a testament to his dedication and commitment to his fellow citizens, a quality that he carried throughout his life.
Roy was a man who found joy in the simple pleasures of life. Known for his steadfast routines, he delighted in feeding the birds and neighborhood cats each day, ensuring that they were always cared for. His daily drives around Benton were a testament to his love for his hometown, and when the clock struck 1 p.m., it was time for his cherished tradition of enjoying a cold beer. Roy lived life on his own terms, appreciating the routines that brought him happiness and the small moments that defined his days.
In remembrance of Roy and in lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to a charity of choice or a local animal shelter, honoring his love for animals.
Roy Ziegler will be deeply missed by all who knew him, but his spirit will live on in the hearts of those he touched. May he rest in peace, reunited with Lenora and his loved ones who have gone before him.
