Gerhard Moskal

We sadly announce the passing of Gerhard Moskal, a beloved father, grandfather, and friend, who peacefully departed this world on October 24, 2026, at the age of 86, surrounded by his three devoted sons. Gerhard was born on October 16, 1940, in the quaint town of Heilbronn, Germany, to his loving parents, Emily and Simon Moskal. Gerhard's journey led him across the Atlantic, where he settled in the United States and graduated from Cleveland West Tech High School. This education laid a strong foundation for a life defined by hard work, dedication, and a deep love for his family and community. On August 11, 1962, Gerhard married the love of his life, Barbara Oppman, in Lakewood, Ohio. Together, they shared 63 wonderful years, raising their three sons, Kurt, Karl, and Kraig, and creating a life steeped in love, laughter, and cherished memories. Gerhard and Barbara's partnership was a testament to enduring love, and their home was always filled with warmth and joy. Gerhard's legacy is carried on by his sons and his four cherished grandchildren: Callie, Chloe, Mason, and Ella, who were the lights of his life. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Barbara, his parents, and his dear daughter-in-law, Kathy. A devoted member of his community, Gerhard's life will be celebrated with a service at St Peter's Episcopal Church, 18001 Detroit Ave, Lakewood, OH 44107, on December 19, 2026, at 11:00 AM. Family and friends are invited to gather and honor the remarkable life he led. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Gerhard's memory to the Playhouse Square Foundation in Cleveland, OH, an organization that held a special place in his heart. Gerhard Moskal's gentle spirit and unwavering love for his family will be remembered fondly by all who were fortunate to know him. His life serves as a beautiful example of kindness, resilience, and the enduring power of love.
