Gerard Galley

January 11, 1941 — April 5, 2026

It is with heavy hearts and deep gratitude for a life well-lived that we announce the passing of Gerard Galley, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend. Gerard departed this world peacefully at his home in the loving care of his three devoted children and hospice on April 5, 2026. He was 85 years old. Born on January 11, 1941, in Wyandotte, Michigan, Gerard was the cherished son of Paul and Marian Galley, who predeceased him. From a young age, Gerard demonstrated a spirited passion for life and an unwavering commitment to his family, country, and community. Gerard's adventurous spirit and determination were evident early in life, earning him the "Hat Trick" award while playing hockey in 1957—a testament to his dedication and skill on the ice. His tenacity and courage shone brightly during his honorable service in the Army, where he earned the Purple Heart for his bravery and sacrifice. On March 22, 1968, Gerard married the love of his life, Joy Fountain, marking the beginning of a beautiful 58-year journey together. Their love story is one of enduring devotion and partnership, a beacon of commitment for their family and friends. Together, they raised three wonderful children: Ryan (Jen) Galley, Tracey (Josh) Gurica, and Danny (Shannon) Galley. Gerard's legacy continues through his cherished grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who brought him immense joy and pride. Gerard was not only a dedicated family man but also a skilled craftsman. For 36 years, he worked at Ford Motor Company as a Tool and Die Maker, retiring in 2005. His colleagues and friends remember him as a hardworking, inventive spirit who was always ready to lend a hand or share a laugh. Outside of work, Gerard's passion for creation and innovation was boundless. Whether he was tinkering with hot rods in his shop, crafting parts on his CNC machine, or dreaming up contraptions like a corn husk shucker or a Volkswagen Bug running on corn, Gerard's ingenuity knew no limits. He was a man who found joy in creation and shared that joy with all who knew him. Gerard also pursued his love for horses, earning his professional horse trainer certification from Jack n Jill Stables in Rothbury, MI. His love for these majestic animals was another facet of his multifaceted life, bringing him peace and fulfillment. Gerard leaves behind a legacy of love, courage, and creativity. As his family prepares to celebrate his life in June, they take comfort in knowing that Gerard's spirit will live on in the hearts of those he touched. His family wishes to extend their heartfelt gratitude to all who have offered their support and condolences during this time. In this time of sorrow, we remember Gerard's warmth, his laughter, and his unwavering love for his family. He will be dearly missed but forever remembered by those who had the privilege of knowing him. Rest in peace, Gerard Galley. Your journey has touched our hearts and your memory will be cherished forever.
