It is with heavy hearts and profound sorrow that we announce the passing of our beloved Geralene Jones, who left this world on May 16, 2026, at the age of 64. Geralene was born on January 18, 1962, in Starkville, Mississippi, to the late Bernice and WD Sherrod, and she spent her life enveloped by a loving family that she cherished deeply.
Geralene was a beacon of light and an embodiment of strength, love, and compassion. Her journey through life was marked by her unwavering dedication to her family and her ability to touch the lives of everyone she encountered. Her kindness knew no bounds, and her warmth was a comfort to all who knew her.
Predeceased by her parents, Bernice and WD Sherrod, and her loving husband, Bobby J. Jones, Geralene is survived by a large and loving family who will continue to carry her spirit forward. She leaves behind her devoted son, Kenneth L. Davis, who was the apple of her eye, and her cherished grandson, Camon Julian Davis of Corpus Christi, Texas, who brought immense joy to her life.
Geralene was a sister to many, sharing a special bond with her sisters Regina Frazier, Linda Sherrod, Delois Kincaid (Perry), Glenda Sherrod, Tiffany Lewis (Brad), and Renay Sherrod, as well as her brothers Jason Sherrod, Rodney Sherrod, Demetric Hall of Tupelo, and Joe A. Robinson of Starkville, Mississippi. Her siblings were her confidants and closest friends, and together, they shared countless memories filled with laughter and love.
In addition to her immediate family, Geralene leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who were fortunate to experience her nurturing spirit and infectious joy. Each of them carries a piece of her heart, and her legacy will endure in the stories and memories they share.
Geralene’s life was a testament to the power of love and resilience. Her faith and compassion were evident in her daily actions, and she was always ready to lend a helping hand or a listening ear. Her laughter was infectious, and her ability to find joy in the simple things was an inspiration to those around her.
A service to celebrate Geralene’s life will be held on May 30, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Harper Chapel, located at 999 J Foster Road. Friends and family are invited to gather and honor the remarkable life of a woman who filled the world with love and light.
Though our hearts are heavy with her passing, we find comfort in knowing that Geralene’s love will forever guide us. She has left an indelible mark on our hearts, and her spirit will continue to guide us in the days to come. May she rest in eternal peace, surrounded by the love she so generously shared in life.
