Geraldine "Jerry" Moyer, a beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her loved ones on August 30, 2026. Born on March 6, 1933, in the vibrant city of New Orleans, Louisiana, Jerry's life was a tapestry of love, dedication, and joy.
Jerry was the cherished daughter of Dorothy and Merrill Hancock. She was predeceased by her devoted husband of 59 years, Harvey A. Moyer, Jr., and her dear sisters, Joan and Nancy. Her legacy lives on in her loving family: daughter Janice Sunderland and her husband David, son Michael Moyer, daughter Joyce Brozena and her husband Mike; grandchildren Amy and her husband David, Beth and her husband Scott, Patrick and his wife Holly, and Julie and her husband Alex; and great-grandchildren Emma, Cole, Patrick, Lincoln, Ethan, Carter, and Dylan. Jerry is also survived by her beloved brother Dennis and his wife Teri, and her sister-in-law Adele Moyer and her husband George.
Jerry embraced a fulfilling career as a bank teller and clerk at the 5 & Dime Store on Light Street in Baltimore, where her warm smile and kind demeanor touched many. Later, she dedicated herself to her role as a homemaker, nurturing her family with love and care.
An active member of Brooklyn Immanuel United Methodist Church in Baltimore for many years, Jerry was a guiding light in her community. Her faith was a cornerstone of her life, and she drew immense strength from her spiritual community.
Jerry had a passion for caregiving, a calling she answered with grace and compassion throughout her life. She found joy in traveling, exploring new places, and discovering treasures at flea markets. Her adventurous spirit and zest for life were inspiring to all who knew her.
The family will gather to celebrate Jerry's remarkable life on September 4, 2026, at 10:30 a.m. at Singleton Funeral & Cremation Services, P.A., located at 1 2nd Avenue, S.W. Her family and friends will come together to honor her memory and the indelible mark she left on their lives.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to the Arc of Maryland in Jerry's memory, continuing her legacy of giving and support to others.
Jerry will be deeply missed but lovingly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her kindness, strength, and unwavering love will forever remain in the hearts of her family and friends.
