In Loving Memory

Geraldine Claire Potoczny
January 16, 1941 — February 13, 2026
Potoczny, Geraldine “Gerry” (Olinick) age 85, formerly of Hobe Sound, FL passed away peacefully on February 13, 2026, surrounded by family.
Gerry was born on January 16, 1941, to Genevieve and Michael Olinick in Braddock, Pennsylvania. While working in the same office building in Pittsburgh, she met Andrew “Andy”, the love of her life. After he took her dancing, she fell for him quickly because of his sense of joy and humor. They married on May 20,1961 and spent the next eight years raising their young family in Meadville, PA, Buffalo, NY, and Smithtown, NY before settling down in Avon, CT with their three beloved daughters.
A life-long learner, Gerry began taking college classes once her daughters entered elementary school and successfully earned her degree in finance and accounting, all while juggling family needs and volunteering at several non-profit organizations.
Gerry is survived by her three daughters, Karen Potoczny and partner Steven Bosnyak of Las Vegas, NV, Andrea Potoczny-Gray and her husband Michael of Sharon, MA and Jennifer Tracy and husband Eric of Torrington, CT. She also leaves her three adored grandchildren Colin, Natalie, and Julia, her sister Michele Flowers and husband John, cousin David Konopka, and many nieces and nephews and wonderful friends.
Known for her adventurous spirit, Gerry was determined to travel to every US state and after a recent trip to Alaska, achieved this ambitious goal. She also visited dozens of countries all over the world, meeting new friends along the way. Gerry’s talents and interests were many; she was an avid reader, crossword puzzle aficionado (always using a pen and never a pencil), a customary “to do” list maker, talented seamstress and cook, and a community volunteer. Gerry was also known for her fierce independence, telling it like it is, and unwavering faith. She was a long-term member of St. Catherina of Siena, in West Simsbury, CT and St. Joseph Parish in Stuart, FL. The family is comforted that she has been reunited in heaven with Andy, her loving husband of 49 years. Despite her loss, Gerry continued to seek new experiences, sometimes travelling solo, and always embracing life to the fullest.
