It is with great sorrow, yet deep gratitude for a life well-lived, that we announce the passing of Gerald Thomas Wiley, who departed this world on May 15, 2026, at the tender age of 17 months. Born on November 26, 2024, at the Fort Ord Army Base in Monterey, California, Gerald's time with us, though brief, was filled with a spirit that touched all who knew him. Gerald faced his battle with cancer with the courage and resilience that belied his young age. He taught us lessons in strength and grace, and his memory will forever remain as a beacon of love and hope. He was lovingly adopted by Jesse Willey and Essie Missouri Wiseman, who have now reunited with him in eternity. Gerald was also preceded in death by other family members whose legacy of love and strength he carried with him. Gerald was a remarkably gifted individual, even in his short time. Known affectionately as a "jack of all trades," he was self-employed as a welder, electrician, and mechanic. His natural talent for fixing things was surpassed only by his love for the outdoors. A farmer at heart, Gerald found joy in working with the soil, always with a keen appreciation for the beauty of the earth and the satisfaction of growing something from nothing. Family was the cornerstone of Gerald's life. He cherished every moment spent with loved ones and found happiness in the simple pleasure of being surrounded by friends. His laughter and warmth will be dearly missed, yet his presence will always be felt in the hearts of those who knew him. The family expresses their deepest gratitude to the compassionate staff at Trellis Supportive Care, whose kindness and support provided great comfort during Gerald's final days. A visitation to honor and celebrate Gerald's life will be announced by the family in the near future.
