Gerald Malcom Hodge

Gerald Malcolm Hodge, a beloved husband, devoted father, cherished grandfather, and great-grandfather, peacefully departed from this world on July 24, 2026, at the age of 76. After a valiant battle with cancer, Gerald passed away at his home in Knoxville, Tennessee, surrounded by the love and care of his family. Born on January 24, 1950, in Knoxville, Gerald was the son of the late John Hodge and Della M. (Clarence E. Sr.) Harris. His upbringing in a close-knit family laid the foundation for a life characterized by love, faith, and kindness. Gerald is now reunited in eternal peace with his beloved daughter, Crystal Renee Hodge; his parents, John Hodge and Della M( Clarence E Sr.) his twin sister, Geraldette M. Dozier; sister, Sonja Sherrine Lytle; his brothers, John Anderson, Norman V. Hodge Sr., and Clarence E. Harris Jr.; his grandmother, Sophornia Hodge; and his father-in-law, Rev. Gene Green. Gerald's enduring legacy continues through his loving wife of 45 years, Kathy L. Hodge, who was by his side through every joy and challenge. He is also survived by his son, Gerald M. Hodge Jr., and his wife, KiKi, who carry forward his spirit of warmth and humor. Gerald was the proud grandfather to nine grandchildren: Gerald M. Hodge III (Payden), Jeremiah P. Mills (Cloe), Jada Tate, Dillion, Seth, Jordan, Natalya Hodge, and Lakisha Dobbins . His four great-grandchildren, Valley Hodge, Ruthie, Nico Mills, and Ramsey, and soon to be Grandson, Peanut. They were all the light of his later years, bringing him immense joy and happiness. Gerald shared a special bond with his sister, Wilma Gordan, and her husband Ken, as well as his sister-in-law, Kim Howell, and her husband Chris. They, along with the rest of his family, will deeply miss his presence, his laughter, and his unwavering support. A dedicated employee, Gerald spent many years working diligently at Briggs before continuing his career with O’Reilly’s. Outside of work, Gerald was a pillar of his community. He was an active member of the Fifth Avenue Baptist Church until his illness made attendance impossible. His faith was a cornerstone of his life, and his favorite worship song, "Give Thanks," reflected his grateful heart. Gerald loved the simple joys of life. Fishing in Cherokee, NC, with Kathy was one of his treasured pastimes. Known for his politeness and a great sense of humor, Gerald had a unique ability to make everyone around him smile. His love for Jesus was evident in the way he lived, bringing warmth and kindness to every interaction. A service to honor Gerald’s life will be held at the Fifth Avenue Baptist Church, located at 2500 E. Fifth Avenue Knoxville, TN 37914. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly suggests donations be made to a charity of your choice, reflecting Gerald’s generous spirit. The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to all the doctors and hospice staff for their compassionate care during Gerald’s illness. They also express their deep appreciation to everyone who supported Kathy through this difficult time. Gerald Malcolm Hodge will be remembered for his gentle spirit, his love for family and faith, and his ability to bring joy to those around him. His memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
