November 27, 1935 — June 19, 2026

In loving memory of Gerald (Jerry) J. Keller, who passed away peacefully at his home on June 19, 2026, at the age of 90. Jerry was born on November 27, 1935, in Wood County, Ohio, to Chester and Edith Keller. He was a man whose quiet strength and steadfast love touched the lives of all who knew him. Jerry’s journey began in Milbury, Ohio, where he graduated from Lake High School in 1953. It was here that he laid the foundation for a life built on hard work, honesty, and integrity. At the tender age of 14, he apprenticed as a stone and brick mason, a craft that would become his lifelong passion. His mastery of the trade led to the founding of Keller Masonry, a business that continues to thrive under the stewardship of his son, Kevin Keller. In 1969, Jerry married the love of his life, Barbara Keller, with whom he shared 57 beautiful years. Together, they built a family characterized by love, laughter, and an unwavering bond. Jerry is survived by his devoted wife Barbara, his son Kevin (Nancy) Keller, and his daughter Kristina Keller. He also leaves behind his cherished stepchildren: Mark (Sharon) Shafer, Rebecca Castellano (Frank Junkin), Eric (Beckie) Shafer, and Martin Shafer. Jerry was a proud grandfather to five grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren, each of whom he adored and who brought immense joy to his life. Jerry’s career as a firefighter for the City of Toledo spanned 25 years, during which he served at Stations 6 and 25. He retired in 1990, leaving behind a legacy of courage and dedication. A proud member of Firefighter Local Union 92, Jerry was committed to the brotherhood and the communities he served. His colleagues remember him as a man of few words, yet his actions spoke volumes. He was stoic and plain-spoken, known for his honesty and his unwavering support for those around him. A former high school basketball player, Jerry’s love for sports endured throughout his life. Whether watching or playing, he found joy in the game, and his enthusiasm was infectious. He was a man who appreciated the simple pleasures, from sharing a lighthearted joke to engaging in playful teasing, always with kindness and warmth. Jerry was predeceased by his parents, Chester and Edith Keller, his brother Raymond (Patricia) Keller, and his sister Eva Keller. He is also survived by his brother Leon Keller, who cherished Jerry’s companionship and shared memories of their youth. A service to celebrate Jerry’s remarkable life will be held on June 26, 2026, at 6:00 PM at Coyles Funeral Home, located at 1770 S Reynolds Rd, Toledo, Ohio 43614. Family, friends, and all whose lives Jerry touched are invited to attend and honor his memory. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to THE CHARITIES OF LOCAL 92 FIREFIGHTERS, reflecting Jerry’s lifelong commitment to his community and fellow firefighters. Jerry Keller was a man whose life was defined by his quiet dignity, his commitment to family, and his love for all those around him. Though he has left this world, his legacy of love and strength endures in the hearts of those who were privileged to know him.
