Gerald G Cruse III Peoria, Illinois - Gerald G Cruse III, affectionately known as "Little Guy," passed away peacefully on April 25, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of love, resilience, and creativity at the age of 42. Born on June 19, 1983, in Peoria, Illinois, Gerry was the beloved son of Lora L. Claveloux and Gerald G Cruse II, and stepson to Brad L. Closen. He is predeceased by his cherished grandparents, Judy and Gerald Cruse, but is survived by his loving children, Kurt and Will Cruse, his devoted siblings Ashlyn N. Daniels, Kristy A. Mercurio, and Ryan A. Closen, and his grandmother, Loretta A. Corley. Gerry was a man of many talents and passions. He was a highly regarded professional in the roofing industry, known for his successful company and exceptional welding skills. His ability to transform metal into art was not just a career but a passion he loved to share with his family, often showcasing choppers and bikes he built with his own hands. His craft, whether welding or teaching mechanics, was always accompanied by the soundtrack of his life—loud music that echoed his vibrant spirit. Beyond his professional achievements, Gerry was a devoted father, whose unconditional love for his children was the core of his being. His family was his world, and he took great pride in being a protective brother and a pillar of strength for his siblings. Known to many as a grizzly on the outside, Gerry was truly a soft-hearted teddy bear to those who knew him intimately. Gerry was an avid bow hunter, finding peace and purpose in the great outdoors. His love for nature was matched only by his devotion to his faith as an active member of the New Life Church in Lehigh Acres, Florida. His faith was a guiding force throughout his life, providing him with strength and comfort during his many struggles. In remembering Gerry, his family lovingly asks that we always cherish his memory as a soul who loved deeply, even amidst his battles. His warm hugs, open arms, and larger-than-life presence will be dearly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him. "Always remember Gerry as a soul who loved hard, despite his demons." His family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to organizations supporting mental health awareness and support. May we find solace in the memories we shared with Gerry and celebrate the life of a remarkable man who touched the hearts of many.
