Georgianna Ray

September 26, 1945 — April 22, 2026

It is with a heavy heart that we announce the peaceful passing of Georgianna Ray, a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, on April 22, 2026, at the Pikeville Medical Center. Born on September 26, 1945, in Pikeville, Kentucky, Georgianna's life was a testament to love, faith, and unwavering service to others. Georgianna was the cherished daughter of the late George and Blanche "Ruthie" Ray, who nurtured her spirit and kindness from a young age. She was preceded in death by her dear parents, her loving brother-in-law Paul Deskins, her treasured daughter Laura Branham, and her precious great-granddaughter Tessa Coleman. Despite these profound losses, Georgianna's heart remained open and full, finding solace and strength in her family and faith. Her journey through life was marked by her commitment to education and her dedication to the hundreds of students she taught over the years. Known affectionately as Ms. Ray, she was more than an educator; she was a beacon of kindness, always ready to extend a helping hand, offer a compassionate word, or simply be a comforting presence. Her life was a reflection of her deep and abiding faith, which she lived out daily through her actions and her steadfast service as a devoted member of the Energyville Freewill Baptist Church. Georgianna is survived by her loving granddaughter Cassandra Turner, who was her pride and joy, and who carries forward the legacy of love and resilience. She is also survived by her beloved sister Phyllis Deskins, her devoted nephew George Huffman and his wife Nikki, and her great-nephews George "Manny" Huffman and Lachlan Huffman, who brought light and laughter into her life. She leaves behind her dear Uncle Noah Newsome and numerous special cousins, each holding a unique place in her heart. Georgianna's life will be celebrated in a memorial service on April 26, 2026, at 7:00 p.m. at the Lucas & Son Funeral Home, located at 2931 US 23 South, Pikeville, KY 41501. Family, friends, and all whose lives she touched are invited to join in honoring her memory and celebrating the love she so generously shared with the world. Though Georgianna's journey on this earth has come to an end, her legacy of love, kindness, and faith endures. She will be deeply missed but forever remembered in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know her. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Georgianna's memory to a charity of choice, to continue her legacy of giving and service to others. May her soul rest in eternal peace, embraced by the love and light she so beautifully shared during her time with us.
