It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of a beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Georgia M. Wood, who departed this life on May 14, 2026, at the age of 81. Georgia passed peacefully at Winchester Medical Center, surrounded by the love of her family. Georgia was born on October 19, 1944, in Martinsburg, West Virginia, to her cherished parents, George and Dolly Cole. From a young age, Georgia exhibited a spirited resilience and a boundless love for life that would become the hallmark of her character. Her life's journey was one of love, compassion, and unwavering dedication to her family. She was predeceased by her parents, George and Dolly, her beloved sister Catherine Shepherd, her brothers Richard and Edward Cole, her sister Carolyn Gregory, and her daughter-in-law Rebecca Wood. Each of these losses strengthened Georgia's determination to live a life filled with love, leaving a legacy that will continue to inspire all who knew her. Georgia's greatest pride and joy were her children. She is survived by her devoted sons: James C. Wood and his wife Paula, Anthony W. Wood, Michael A. Wood and his wife Shelly, and Jason C. Wood and his wife Amanda. Her children were the center of her world, and she delighted in their every achievement, always encouraging them to pursue their dreams with the same tenacity she exhibited throughout her life. The light of Georgia's life extended to her cherished grandchildren, numbering eight, and her seven great-grandchildren. Her legacy is one of love, laughter, and the countless memories she created with her family, each moment a testament to her nurturing spirit and her ability to bring joy to those around her. Georgia was a woman of quiet strength and gentle wisdom. She possessed an innate ability to make everyone feel special and loved, whether through her warm, welcoming smile or her sage advice that always seemed to come at just the right moment. Her home was a sanctuary of warmth and hospitality, where friends and family gathered to share in her infectious laughter and enjoy her delicious home-cooked meals. Her life was a beautiful tapestry woven with threads of kindness, strength, and an unwavering spirit of generosity. Georgia's legacy will live on in the hearts of all who knew her, a beacon of love and light guiding us through our own journeys. A celebration of Georgia M. Wood's life will be held at a later date, where family and friends will gather to honor her memory and share stories of the remarkable woman she was. Though we mourn her passing, we take comfort in knowing that her spirit will continue to shine brightly in the lives of her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Georgia's memory to a charity of your choice, reflecting her lifelong commitment to helping others and making the world a better place. Georgia's departure leaves a void that can never be filled, but her spirit will forever remain a guiding light in the lives of all who were fortunate enough to know her. May she rest in eternal peace, embraced by the love of those who went before her and watching over those she leaves behind.
