It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Georgia M. Wood, a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and cherished friend to many, who left us peacefully on May 14, 2026, at the Winchester Medical Center. Born on October 19, 1944, in the picturesque town of Martinsburg, West Virginia, Georgia's life was a testament to love, resilience, and unwavering dedication to her family and community. The daughter of the late George and Dolly Cole, Georgia was nurtured in a family that valued kindness, hard work, and togetherness. Her life was deeply intertwined with the lives of her siblings, the late Catherine Shepherd, Richard Cole, Edward Cole, and Carolyn Gregory, each of whom held a special place in her heart and memory. Georgia's legacy continues through her devoted family. She is survived by her loving sons, James C. Wood and his wife Paula, Anthony W. Wood, Michael A. Wood and his wife Shelly, and Jason C. Wood and his wife Amanda. Her nurturing spirit and generous heart live on in her 8 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren, each of whom brought immense joy and pride to her life. Throughout her years, Georgia was known for her warm smile, her gentle wisdom, and her remarkable ability to bring people together. She had an innate talent for making everyone feel at home, whether it was through her lovingly prepared meals, her infectious laughter, or her compassionate listening ear. Her home was a sanctuary, filled with laughter, stories, and the comfort only a mother's love can provide. Georgia's unwavering faith and commitment to her family were the cornerstones of her life. She dedicated herself to nurturing her children and grandchildren, instilling in them the values of integrity, empathy, and perseverance. Her love was a guiding light that continues to shine brightly in the lives of those she touched. In remembering Georgia, we celebrate a life well-lived, a life that was a testament to love, resilience, and unwavering devotion.
