It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of Georgia M. Wood, a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, who left this world on May 14, 2026, at Winchester Medical Center. Born on October 19, 1944, in the warm embrace of Martinsburg, West Virginia, Georgia lived a life rich in devotion, love, and cherished memories. Georgia was the treasured daughter of the late George and Dolly Cole. Her journey through life was marked by an unwavering commitment to her family, a legacy she inherited from her parents. Preceding her in death were her siblings Catherine Shepherd, Richard Cole, Edward Cole, and Carolyn Gregory, as well as her cherished daughter-in-law, Rebecca Wood. Each of these losses was felt deeply by Georgia, who found solace in the enduring bonds of family. She leaves behind a loving family who will continue to honor her memory: her devoted sons, James C. Wood and his wife, Paula; Anthony W. Wood; Michael A. Wood and his wife, Shelly; and Jason C. Wood and his wife, Amanda. Georgia's legacy extends to her beloved sisters, Dolly Dunham Patricia Dunham Elma Twigg Connie Cole Joann Cole And Brother Zack Cole whose shared memories will forever keep her spirit alive. Georgia's life was a tapestry woven with threads of love, kindness, and generosity. She was a nurturing presence to her eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren, each of whom brought immense joy to her life. Known for her compassionate nature, Georgia's warmth extended beyond her immediate family, enveloping her numerous nieces and nephews with the same love and care. Throughout her life, Georgia exuded a quiet strength and grace that endeared her to all who knew her. Her home was a haven of comfort, filled with laughter, stories, and the aroma of her signature homemade meals. A woman of simple pleasures, Georgia cherished the beauty of a sunlit morning and the soothing rhythm of a gentle breeze. Though Georgia's physical presence will be deeply missed, her spirit will continue to inspire those who loved her. Her legacy of love and resilience will remain a guiding light for her family, serving as a reminder of the power of kindness and the importance of family bonds. A celebration of Georgia's life will Held at Central Chapel church 2546 Back creek valley June 13 at 11:30 a.m. where family and friends will gather to honor a life well-lived and to share in the memories that Georgia so lovingly created. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Georgia's memory to a charity of one's choice, reflecting her generous spirit and commitment to helping others. As we say goodbye to Georgia M. Wood, we take comfort in knowing that her love will forever remain in the hearts of those she touched. Her legacy is one of love, resilience, and an unyielding dedication to family—a legacy that will continue to flourish in the lives of those she leaves behind.
