It is with heavy hearts and profound sadness that we announce the passing of Georgia M. Morgan-Moore, a beloved matriarch, steadfast friend, and cherished member of the community. Georgia departed this world on May 1, 2026, at the age of 91, leaving behind a legacy of love, strength, and unwavering integrity. Born on June 30, 1934, in the vibrant city of Mobile, Alabama, Georgia was welcomed into the world by her devoted parents, Bernice Terry-Morgan and JD Morgan. Her upbringing was grounded in the deep values of respect, honesty, and a commitment to doing what was right—principles that she carried with her throughout her long and fulfilling life. Georgia is predeceased by her dearly loved sisters, Nancy Mills and Eleanor Terry Purifoy, who were her lifelong companions and confidantes. Their shared memories and laughter remain etched in our hearts. A lifetime devoted to nurturing and guiding her family, Georgia's legacy continues through her four cherished daughters: June, Sibyl, Denise, and Nicole Moore. Her teachings and values live on in her granddaughter, BreAnna Moore, and her great-grandsons, Liam Moore and Levi Moore Venson. Her grandnephew, Matthew Gillery, and great-grandnephews, Austin and Cameron Gillery, also carry forward her enduring spirit and strength. Georgia was not just a mother and grandmother; she was a beacon of wisdom and fortitude. Her family remembers her as a woman who showed her love in a strong and steadfast way. Never one to shy away from honesty, she instilled in those around her a deep sense of discipline and a commitment to integrity. Her expectations were high, but they were always met with the same depth of love and understanding that she so generously offered. Her granddaughter shared a special message that encapsulates Georgia's indelible impact: "My grandmother showed her love in a strong and steadfast way. She was firm, honest, and carried a sense of discipline that shaped those around her. She believed in doing what was right and expected the same from the people she loved. Through her strength and determination, she left a lasting impression that will not be forgotten. She will be remembered for the powerful presence she had in our lives." Georgia's life was a testament to the power of resilience and the importance of family. Her presence was both commanding and comforting, a guiding light for all who had the privilege of knowing her. As we bid farewell to this remarkable woman, we take solace in the rich tapestry of memories she leaves behind, forever woven into the fabric of our lives. A private memorial service will be held to honor Georgia's life and legacy. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to a charity of choice, in keeping with Georgia’s generous spirit and lifelong commitment to helping others. Though Georgia M. Morgan-Moore has left this earthly realm, her spirit will forever remain in the hearts of those who loved her. Her legacy of strength, love, and integrity will continue to inspire and guide her family for generations to come.
