Georgia Lee Munro, lovingly known as Georgia, passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 28, 2026. She was born on May 18, 1944, in Saginaw, Michigan, to the late George and Elnora Defrees. Georgia is survived by her daughter, Christie Munro, and her husband, Pablo Navarro; her granddaughter, Erika Burris, and her husband, Jordan; her grandson, Cristian Navarro, and his wife, Kiran; and her great-granddaughter, Sophia Burris. She is also survived by her brother, James Defrees, and his wife, Bonnie, along with many beloved nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, James (Jim) Munro Jr.; her son, James Lee Munro; her infant son; her brother, Conrad Defrees; and her sister, Barbara Enszer. Georgia will be remembered for her quick wit, sharp humor, and gift for making others laugh. Even in ordinary moments, her sense of humor brought light and warmth. Though our hearts are heavy, we honor her by holding close her laughter, cherishing those we love, and carrying forward her humor and devotion to family. Georgia will be deeply missed, forever loved, and never forgotten. A private family service will be held as she is laid to rest beside her beloved husband, Jim, at Georgia National Cemetery in Canton, Georgia. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks that donations be made in Georgia’s memory to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or to a veterans association.
