It is with heavy hearts and profound sadness that we announce the passing of Georgia Arlene Loberg, a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and cherished friend. Georgia departed this world peacefully on May 2, 2026, at the age of 88, surrounded by love and care at Pine Hills Retirement Community. Her life was a tapestry of rich experiences and deep connections, woven with the threads of family, friendship, and community.
Georgia was born on October 26, 1937, in the small town of Britton, SD, to George and Erma Cole. From an early age, she embodied the spirit of perseverance and love that would characterize her entire life. She grew up in Langford, SD, where she graduated from Langford High School, laying the foundation for a life filled with learning and growth.
On April 28, 1956, Georgia married the love of her life, Carmon Lee Loberg, in Langford, SD. Together, they built a life full of adventure and shared dreams. Their journey took them through various fulfilling careers, including her memorable roles at the Bank in Buffalo Gap, and as a proud owner and operator of The Stockman's Bar and Cafe in the same town. Georgia and Carmon were also known for their travels across the country as truck drivers for East West Motor Express, a testament to their shared love of adventure and each other's company.
Georgia was blessed with a family that she loved fiercely. She is survived by her devoted daughter, Penni (Tom) Miller of Hot Springs, SD, her loving granddaughter Laura (Ryan) Bowar, and her cherished great-grandchildren Katherine and Weston Bowar of Casper, WY. Her family also includes her grandson Chance Dumire, along with five sister-in-laws, two brother-in-laws, and an array of nieces, nephews, cousins, and countless friends who were touched by her warmth and kindness.
Preceding her in death were her beloved husband, Carmon Loberg, her daughter Kim Dumire, her son-in-law Jerry Dumire, her granddaughter Jennifer Lynn Miller, her parents, and a host of siblings, brother-in-laws, and sister-in-laws. Their memories live on in the stories and love she shared with those around her.
Georgia was a woman of remarkable character, known for her quick wit, sassiness, and a strong personality that left an indelible mark on everyone she met. Her love for her family was unwavering, and she found great joy in simple pleasures like working in her yard, sewing for her family, baking pies, and spending time with her loved ones.
A celebration of Georgia's life will be held on May 22, 2026, at 2:00 PM at the Chamberlain McColley Funeral Home, located at 401 North Garden Street, Hot Springs, SD. For those unable to attend in person, a livestream of the service will be available at www.chamberlainmccolleys.com. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to the Minnekahta Valley Cemetery Memorial Fund in her honor.
The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to Pine Hills Retirement Community and Stillwater Hospice for their exceptional care and compassion. We are forever grateful for the love and kindness shown to Georgia in her final days.
