Born on August 28, 1927, in McKeesport, PA, Georgette passed away peacefully at her home on May 16, 2026, surrounded by the love and comfort of her family.
Georgette was the cherished daughter of Arthur and Jeanie Herzog, who, along with her sisters Jean Smart, Gladys Bachelor, and Delores Patton, preceded her in death. She was also predeceased by her beloved son, Philip Menzie, whose memory she carried tenderly in her heart.
A graduate of McKeesport High School and later the Central Bible Institute in Springfield, MO, Georgette was a lifelong learner whose intellectual curiosity and dedication to her faith were guiding lights throughout her life. Her career began as a switchboard operator for Bell Telephone, where she later became a Maintenance Administrator, demonstrating her remarkable ability to adapt and excel in every endeavor.
In addition to her professional life, Georgette was a vibrant and active member of her community. She was an active member of the McKeesport Assembly of God Church, where her faith and compassion inspired others. Her leadership was evident in her roles as past president of both the Home Gardeners Guild and the McKeesport Business and Professional Women's Club, where she made lasting contributions and friendships.
Georgette was not only a dedicated community leader but also a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She leaves behind her devoted husband, James (Jim), with whom she celebrated 45 years of marriage on his birthday—a testament to their enduring love and companionship. Her legacy continues through her sons, Daniel Menzie of Springfield, MO, and Jared Menzie (Debbie) of Smithfield, NC. Georgette was the proud grandmother of six grandchildren and twenty-one great-grandchildren, each of whom brought her immeasurable joy and pride.
Known for her quick wit, warm smile, and a joke always ready to lighten the mood, Georgette had a gift for making everyone feel welcome and valued. Her cooking and baking were legendary, with friends and family often gathering to savor her culinary delights. Even at the age of 92, she was the lead bowler in her league, showcasing her zest for life and competitive spirit.
Georgette's kindness and generosity touched countless lives. Her legacy of love, laughter, and unwavering faith will continue to inspire those who knew her. Though she has left this world, the warmth of her spirit will forever remain in the hearts of her family and friends.
A celebration of Georgette's life will be held at McKeesport Assembly of God Church, where her life and contributions to the community will be honored. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to the church or a charity of one's choice, reflecting Georgette's lifelong commitment to helping others.
