George Christofilis

November 6, 1946 — July 3, 2026

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of George Christofilis, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, on July 3, 2026. George passed away peacefully in his sleep at the hospital, surrounded by the love of his family, at the age of 79. George was born on November 6, 1946, in the picturesque town of Durango, Colorado, to his loving parents, James George and Lois Joyce Christofilis. He was predeceased by his parents and his cherished brother, Michael Christofilis. A man of unwavering dedication and strength, George graduated from Hogan Senior High in 1965. He went on to serve his community with distinction, first as a firefighter and later as a landscaper—a role he embraced with both skill and passion until his retirement in 2007. George's life was a tapestry of rich and varied interests. From his love of painting and gardening to his enthusiasm for John Wayne movies, the San Francisco 49ers, and NASCAR racing, George's passions were as diverse as they were profound. He was also an avid bowler, a devoted baseball fan, and a loyal follower of WWE wrestling. His quick wit, warm smile, and ever-present sense of humor were the hallmarks of his character, endearing him to all who had the pleasure of knowing him. His kind heart and generous spirit touched countless lives, leaving a legacy of love and laughter. George leaves behind his devoted wife of 43 years, Carolyn, who resides in Oroville, California. He is also survived by his four children: Kimberly Christofilis-Smith and her husband Nicholas, of Suisun City, California; Ken Johnson of Oroville, California; Amy Sikoti and her husband Popoai, of Vallejo, California; and Christina Christofilis of Oroville, California. George was a proud grandfather to Jasmine Jones of Suisun City, California; Rodney and Angelique Jones of Corpus Christi, Texas; and Musu Sikoti of Vallejo, California. He was also blessed with a great-grandson, Rodney Jones III, of Corpus Christi, Texas. In honoring George's wishes, a private funeral ceremony will be held. The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Enloe Hospital for their compassionate care during George's final days. "Forever in our hearts," they say, capturing the sentiment shared by all who knew him. The family kindly requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made in George's memory to a charity of your choice. George's legacy lives on in the laughter of his children, the smiles of his grandchildren, and the enduring love of his family and friends. Though he is no longer with us, his spirit will forever be a guiding light, illuminating the lives of those he leaves behind.
