Surrounded by the warmth and love of his cherished family in his final moments, George left a legacy of kindness, generosity, and unwavering love that will be fondly remembered and deeply missed.
Born on June 7, 1941, in the vibrant community of Dade City, Florida, George was a beacon of light from the very beginning. He was the beloved son of George and Waunita Carter, who instilled in him the values of hard work, compassion, and dedication. George's journey began at Pasco High School, where he graduated in 1959, setting the foundation for a life marked by service and entrepreneurship.
George proudly served in the Army Reserve, a testament to his commitment to his country and community. His career path led him to the automotive industry, where he became the esteemed owner and operator of Wayne's Auto Parts. His business was not just a livelihood but a testament to his dedication to helping others and his incredible ability to make everyone feel welcome and valued.
In 1988, George's life was forever enriched when he married his beloved Wanda. Their 34 years of marriage were a tapestry woven with love, laughter, and countless adventures. Together, they built a beautiful family, including his children, Steve (Annie) Carter, Joy (Bruce) Register, Mark (Donna) Cramer, and James (Malinda) Cramer, who will carry on his legacy with grace and strength.
George's heart overflowed with love for his grandchildren: Amber (Chris) Bennett, Kayla Carter, Cheyanne Carter, Laci Carter, Shalyn Carter, Leena Davenport, Jasmine Davenport, McKenzie (Trevor) Gibson, Scott (Kayla) Gedeist, Ryan (Buffy) Gedeist, James (Amanda) Cramer II, Garrett Cramer, Linsey Cramer, Travis Parish, and Lala Johnson. His joy was further amplified with the arrival of his 23 great-grandchildren, who were the apples of his eye and the source of his greatest pride.
George was predeceased by his parents, George and Waunita Carter, his brother, Gerold Carter, and his sister, Judy Latunski. He leaves behind his dear sister, Linda Beck, and a host of extended family members and friends who will forever cherish his memory.
His passions in life were as varied as they were fulfilling. George was an avid fisherman and hunter, reveling in the tranquility and challenge of the great outdoors. When not at home doting on his adored great-grandchildren, George and Wanda embarked on countless journeys, creating cherished memories with their nephew Aaron.
George's spirit of generosity and warmth touched countless lives, and his presence was a gift to all who knew him. He had an innate ability to make everyone feel appreciated, and his kindness knew no bounds.
A celebration of George's life will be held on June 26, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Hodges Family Funeral Home, located at 11441 US-301, Dade City, FL, 33525. Friends and family are invited to join in honoring the life of a remarkable man who gave so much to so many.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations in George's memory to a charity of your choice, spreading kindness as he so often did throughout his life.
