It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of George Raymond Humphreys, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, who peacefully departed this world on May 13, 2026, at the age of 97. Born on July 8, 1928, in the heart of Anderson, Indiana, George was the cherished son of Raymond and Ethel Humphreys. George's life was a testament to love, service, and dedication. He was a proud veteran who served our country with honor and distinction in the United States Marines, embodying the values of courage and sacrifice that he carried throughout his life. His commitment to his nation was matched only by his unwavering devotion to his family. In 1950, George married the love of his life, Rosella Ann Humphreys, with whom he shared a beautiful journey filled with love, laughter, and companionship until her passing. Together, they built a nurturing family, raising three wonderful children: Charles (Carol) Humphreys, Arnold (Debbie) Humphreys, and Judith (William) Mossburg. George's legacy lives on in his 16 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren, each of whom brought immeasurable joy to his life. He also leaves behind several nieces and nephews, all of whom held a special place in his heart. George was an avid sportsman who found joy in the simple pleasures of life. He spent countless hours bowling, fishing, and playing shuffleboard, always sharing these passions with friends and family. His laughter was infectious, and his stories of past adventures were cherished by those fortunate enough to hear them. Even in his later years, George continued to be a source of inspiration and wisdom to all who knew him, teaching the importance of kindness, perseverance, and humor. Preceding him in death were his parents, Raymond and Ethel; his beloved wife, Rosella; his sister, Verla Mae Grady; and his great-grandson, Suede Alexander Brown. George's memory will forever be a blessing to those he touched with his kindness and gentle spirit. A service to honor George's extraordinary life will be held on May 21, 2026, at 9:00 AM at Maplewood Cemetery, located at 200 College Drive in Anderson. Friends and family are invited to gather and celebrate a life well-lived, united in love and gratitude for the moments shared with a truly remarkable man. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in George's memory to a veterans' charity of choice, as a tribute to his enduring legacy of service and sacrifice. George Raymond Humphreys leaves behind a legacy of love, strength, and integrity—a guiding light that will continue to shine brightly in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing him. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered with love and admiration.
