It is with heavy hearts yet profound gratitude for a life well-lived that we announce the peaceful passing of George Norman Lindsey on June 16, 2026. Born on July 9, 1962, in the welcoming embrace of Jacksonville, Texas, George was a beloved son, brother, uncle, stepfather, and grandfather, whose warmth and dedication touched the lives of many.
George was the cherished son of the late Wylie "Dub F" and Floreta "Fay" Lindsey, who instilled in him the values of compassion, integrity, and service that defined his life. He joins his beloved wife, Marian Lindsey, in eternal rest, alongside his parents, and his brother and sister-in-law, Frank and Judy Lindsey, whose memories he treasured deeply.
George's life was a testament to service and dedication. For 26 remarkable years, he devoted himself to law enforcement, demonstrating unwavering commitment and care for the community he served. Beginning his career as a dispatcher and jailer, George's journey culminated in a respected tenure as a deputy sheriff, retiring in 2014 after 20 years of exemplary service with the Cherokee County Sheriff's Office. His colleagues remember him as a steadfast and compassionate presence who approached his work with both gravity and grace.
A man of family and faith, George's heart found joy and fulfillment in the company of his surviving family members. His sister, Lesa Lindsey, shared a close and enduring bond with him, one built on mutual respect and love. His niece, Jennifer Dickey, and her husband, Donny, along with his nephew, Scott Lindsey, were recipients of his wisdom and warmth, which he extended with generosity. George’s stepsons, Joshua and Jeremiah Lindsey, were guided by his quiet strength and paternal care.
Among his greatest joys were his granddaughters, Aurora Lindsey and Bonnie Bowles, who brought light and laughter into his world. George was a beacon of love and support to them, and his legacy will live on through their cherished memories. His family, along with numerous friends and loved ones, will forever remember George for his gentle humor, unwavering loyalty, and the kindness that he freely shared.
Friends and family are invited to celebrate George's life on July 18, 2026, at 2:00 PM at the First Methodist Church, located at 1031 Loop 456, Jacksonville, Texas. It is a fitting tribute to gather at a place that stood as a cornerstone of his faith and community spirit.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to Hospice of East Texas or the First Methodist Church, organizations that reflect George's spirit of giving and community support.
