In Loving Memory

George Contreras
April 6, 1957 — July 29, 2026
George Contreras, born on April 6, 1957, in Dallas, Texas, passed away peacefully on July 29, 2026. A beloved father, grandfather, and friend, George lived a life filled with passion, love, and a commitment to those he held dear.
Growing up in the vibrant city of Dallas, George developed a lifelong love for the area's professional sports teams. Whether it was cheering for the Mavericks, Cowboys, or Stars, his enthusiasm was infectious, and his knowledge of the games was unrivaled. For George, sports were more than just a pastime—they were a way to connect with others and create lasting memories with family and friends.
George's life was enriched by his family, which he cherished above all else. He is survived by his loving family members: Andrew Ochoa, Daniel Ochoa, Nikki Mendoza, and Angela Hernandez. His legacy continues to live on through his six grandchildren and one great-grandchild, who brought immense joy to his life. His family was his pride and joy, and he took great delight in watching them grow and thrive.
Preceded in death by his cherished mother, Juanita Mendoza, and his dear son, Jason Mendoza, George faced loss with resilience and strength. He carried the memories of his mother and son with him, honoring their lives through his actions and the unwavering love he showed to those around him.
George was known for his candid nature and his unique perspective on life. An atheist by belief, George held steadfast to his views, often expressing his thoughts on religion and traditional practices with honesty and humor. He found the concept of funerals to be unnecessary, opting instead for the simplicity of a private memorial where his life could be celebrated in a way that truly reflected his beliefs.
As we remember George, we honor a man who lived life on his own terms, with integrity and a deep love for his family and community. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in George Mendoza’s memory to a charity of your choice, reflecting the spirit of giving that George embodied throughout his life.
George Mendoza left an indelible mark on all who knew him, and his legacy of love, laughter, and loyalty will continue to inspire those he leaves behind. His presence will be dearly missed, but his spirit will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
