In Loving Memory of George Lester O'Hara October 2, 1928 - April 17, 2026 George Lester O'Hara, a man whose quiet strength and sincere smile touched the hearts of many, peacefully passed away on April 17, 2026, at the age of 97. Born in the serene landscape of Lochaber, Nova Scotia, George was the beloved son of Regionald and Anna Mae (Cluney) O'Hara. His journey through life was marked by dedication, love, and an indelible impact on all who knew him. George was the embodiment of steadfast commitment, a quality he displayed throughout his long and fulfilling career in highway construction. His work was not just a job, but a testament to his diligence and the pride he took in building the foundations that connected communities. In 1994, George transitioned to a new chapter at Michelin Tire in Granton, where he worked until his well-deserved retirement. Family was the cornerstone of George's life. He shared a beautiful partnership with his loving wife, Theresa (Cameron) O'Hara, raising their family in Aspen, NS, before settling in Granton in 1974. Together, they nurtured a family that has grown through generations, instilling values of love and integrity. Though Theresa, their daughter Patricia, sons Bill, Glenn, and one son in infancy have predeceased him, George's legacy lives on through his children Edna and Sheila of Dartmouth, Sonny of New Glasgow, and Nelson of Oshawa. He is also survived by a cherished grandson, seven granddaughters, nine great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. George was predeceased not only by his immediate family but also by his brothers, Doug, Raymond, Elwin, and sisters, Mae and Helen, each of whom he held dear. A man of simple pleasures, George found joy in dancing, playing cribbage, and engaging in lively card games. His laughter and warmth were constants at family gatherings, where he delighted in the company of his loved ones. He leaves behind a legacy of love, resilience, and the invaluable lesson of finding joy in life’s everyday moments. The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the dedicated staff at Oceanview Manor, whose care and compassion were a comfort during George's residency. A service to honor and celebrate George's life will be held on May 16, 2026, at Angus Funeral Home in New Glasgow. Family, friends, and all whose lives were touched by George are invited to gather in remembrance and celebration of a life well-lived. In this time of remembrance, we reflect on the profound impact George had on our lives. His memory will forever remain in our hearts, a beacon of the love and strength that defined his life. Rest in peace, dear George. Your legacy of love and kindness will continue to inspire us all.
