George L. Robinson Jr. December 20, 1960 - July 4, 2026 With heavy hearts and profound gratitude for a life well-lived, we announce the passing of George L. Robinson Jr., who departed this world on July 4, 2026, at the age of 65. George passed away peacefully, surrounded by loved ones, at Saint Mary's Hospital. Born on December 20, 1960, in Culpeper, Virginia, George was a beacon of strength and perseverance, leaving an indelible mark on all who knew him. George was the beloved son of the late George Robinson Sr. and Emma (Robinson) Richards. He is predeceased by his brother Gary, nephew Little Gary, and niece Ventora. George leaves behind a family who cherished him deeply, including his son Travis, sister Joan, brothers Darryl, Nathaniel, Michael, and Dana. He will also be fondly remembered by his aunt Lilly Williams, aunt Evelyn Jackson, uncles John and Thomas Richards, cousin Doris Shanks, sister-in-law Chrissy Robinson, brother-in-law Larry Lloyd, and many nieces, great-nieces, nephews, great-nephews, and cousins. His close friends, Trudy and Dawood, remained steadfast by his side throughout his life. A trailblazer from a young age, George graduated from Culpeper County High School, where he made history as the first Black male student to receive the Johnny Dean Outstanding Football Athletic Award. This remarkable achievement not only broke the historic color barrier for this specific CCHS athletic honor but also set a precedent for future generations of minority athletes in the program. George served his country with honor in the United States Army, an experience that shaped his character and instilled in him a deep sense of duty and camaraderie. Following his military service, he worked as a roofer for many years, known for his dedication and skill in his craft. A man of faith, George was a devoted member of Antioch Baptist Church, where he found a community that enriched his life and strengthened his spirit. Despite health challenges that prevented him from driving, George found joy in riding his bike every morning, a testament to his resilience and love for life's simple pleasures. His family shares a special message: "Forever in our hearts." These words encapsulate the enduring love and cherished memories that George leaves behind, a legacy that will continue to inspire and uplift all who knew him. As we gather to celebrate George's life, we extend our heartfelt thanks to everyone who has offered support and joined us in this meaningful occasion.
