Born on March 20, 1948, in the quaint town of Sparta, Illinois, George lived a life rich with love, laughter, and enduring friendships.
George was the beloved son of Alta and Carl Nolan, who predeceased him, along with his brothers, Bob, Walter and Charles Nolan. Despite the sorrow of these losses, George remained a pillar of strength for his surviving family, which includes his devoted children, Troy Nolan and Genia Nolan, as well as his cherished niece, Sandi Nolan Daniel. He leaves behind his loving siblings, Carl Nolan Jr. and Joanie Nolan, along with his sister-in-law, Bonita Nolan. His legacy continues through his eight grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren, who will forever carry his spirit and stories forward.
Throughout his life, George was known for his warm heart and generous spirit. He was a man who never hesitated to lend a helping hand to those in need, and his infectious sense of humor brought joy to countless family gatherings. His love for joking around was legendary, and family tales often recall the time he playfully placed his mother atop the refrigerator, a moment that filled the room with laughter and fond memories.
George's career spanned over five decades at Gould National Battery, where he dedicated his life to hard work and camaraderie. He retired with pride, leaving behind not just a legacy of reliability and determination but also a multitude of friends and colleagues who admired his commitment and warmth.
In his leisure time, George found solace and joy in the great outdoors. He cherished hunting and fishing trips with his brothers and family, where he would share stories and create memories that would be recounted for generations. These pursuits were more than hobbies; they were a testament to his love for nature and his appreciation for life's simple pleasures.
George was a man who knew the true value of family, having shared his life with two loving partners, Ilene and Mary. Though his path was marked by personal challenges, George's resilience and unwavering love for his family were constants that guided him through life's ups and downs.
In accordance with his wishes, a private funeral ceremony will be held to honor George's life. As we gather to celebrate the man who has touched so many lives, we remember him for his kindness, his laughter, and the indelible mark he has left on our hearts.
Though George J. Nolan has left this world, his spirit will forever reside in the laughter of his grandchildren, the stories shared by his children, and the love that binds his family together. He will be dearly missed but never forgotten, as we hold his memory close and strive to live with the same generosity and joy that he so effortlessly shared with all who knew him.
