George H. Bond

March 28, 1954 — October 18, 2026

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of George H. Bond, cherished husband, brother, and friend, who departed this world on October 18, 2026, after a courageous battle with lung cancer. Born on March 28, 1954, in Pittsburg, California, George lived a life filled with love, courage, and an unwavering spirit. George was the beloved son of the late George H. Bond, Sr. and Patricia Tordsen, who preceded him in death. He is survived by his devoted wife of 25 years, Sherri, who stood by his side through every joy and challenge. George also leaves behind a close-knit family, including his brother Tim Tordsen, sister Rhonda Wallace, brother Gordon Tordsen, and sister Yvonne Reopelle, who will forever hold his memory dear. A proud alumnus of Merritt College, George served his country with distinction in the United States Marine Corps from 1972 to 1976. His service instilled in him values of discipline and honor, which he carried throughout his life. Following his military service, George embarked on a career as a Private Investigator, a role that suited his inquisitive nature and keen attention to detail. Later, he became a beloved figure in the community when he owned and operated a local tavern, a place where laughter and camaraderie were constants until his retirement in 2011. Outside of work, George was a man of simple pleasures. He found joy in the quiet moments spent tending to his vegetable garden, particularly in nurturing the tomatoes he generously shared with neighbors. His garden was a testament to his nurturing spirit and his desire to cultivate connections within his community. A service to celebrate George's life will be held on October 24, 2026, at 1:30 PM at the Chapel of the Chimes, located at 4499 Piedmont Avenue, Oakland, CA 94611. Family, friends, and all whose lives were touched by George are invited to join in honoring his memory. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in George's memory to the American Lung Association, National Headquarters, a cause close to his heart. The organization is based in Chicago, IL, and their efforts continue to make a significant impact in the fight against lung diseases. George H. Bond will be deeply missed, but his legacy of kindness, service, and love will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
