George Goad

August 14, 1957 — March 13, 2026

It is with heavy hearts and profound sadness that we announce the sudden passing of George Thomas Goad on March 13, 2026 at the age of 68. Born on July 14, 1957, in Goose Bay, Labrador, George was a beloved husband, brother, uncle, mentor and friend whose vibrant life leaves an indelible mark on all who knew him. George was the cherished son of the late Richard (Dick) and Eve Goad, who predeceased him, along with his brother James (Jimmy) Burton. He is lovingly remembered by his devoted wife, Katherine MacKeigan, whose partnership brought joy and fulfillment to his life. His legacy of love and wisdom endures through his brother Venning and sister-in-law Barbara, his sister Jennifer, his brother-in-law Walter MacKeigan, his nieces Briana, Devonne, Emily and Charlotte and nephews Jared and Anderson. A proud graduate of Dalhousie University and TUNS, George dedicated over 35 years to his career as an engineer, during which he not only excelled in his field but also mentored countless young professionals. His commitment to nurturing the next generation of engineers was a testament to his generous spirit and unyielding dedication to his profession. His guidance helped shape the careers of many, leaving a legacy of excellence and integrity within the engineering community. As a respected member of Engineers Nova Scotia, George contributed tirelessly to the profession he loved. George was a man of varied and passionate interests each reflecting a facet of his dynamic personality. Whether it was the thrill of Formula One racing, the serenity of biking and swimming, or his joy of music, George embraced life with an open heart and adventurous spirit. He was a connoisseur of fine dining and wines, single malt scotches, and aged rum, all speaking to his love of the finer things. George had an affinity for Audis and cherished his collection of watches, each one a testament to his refined taste. His heart, however, belonged Katherine and to the sun-drenched beaches of Barbados, where he found peace and joy. Known for his strong opinions on life and politics, George voice was a powerful presence. His intense approach to getting things done, likened to that of a banshee, was balanced by his patient mentorship, helpful nature and a willingness to offer advice, particularly to those seeking guidance. His insightful nature, knowledge and helpfulness, often referred to affectionately as JAG, was appreciated by all those who were fortunate enough to receive his counsel. George's life was a testament to living with passion and purpose. His memory will live on in the hearts of those he loved and inspired. As we reflect on his life, we remember a man who was unapologetically himself, whose spirit was as bold as it was kind. Though George's departure was sudden the impact of his life resonates deeply in the hearts of those who knew him. His legacy is one of passion, integrity, and an unwavering commitment to those he loved and the work he cherished. As we celebrate George's life, we remember him not only for his accomplishments but for the warmth, strength, and wisdom and the man who was unapologetically himself, whose spirit was as bold as it was kind. A celebration of life will be held at a later date where family, friends and colleagues can gather to honor his memory and a life well lived. In lieu of flowers, those wishing to commemorate George's life are encouraged to make a donation to a charity of their choice in George's name as a fitting tribute to a man who gave so much to others. Though he is no longer with us, his spirit will live on in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know him. May his soul rest in peace and may his memory continue to inspire us all.
