George Frank Luiz

March 5, 1963 — July 24, 2026

With broken hearts but beautiful memories, we share that our beloved George Frank Luiz passed away gently on July 24, 2026, at the age of 63, surrounded by the peace and love he gave so freely throughout his life. Born in Palo Alto, CA, on March 5, 1963, George spent his childhood growing up in Sunnyvale and graduated from Sunnyvale High School in 1981. He was a man of quiet dedication and immense heart, pouring his soul into everything he did. In his youth, he brought smiles to many while working at the family-owned business, Sunnyvale Amusement Company, before going on to spend 26 loyal and hard-working years with the Coca-Cola Company. George had a unique gift for connecting with others, especially his many four-legged friends. His deep love for dogs inspired him to build his own business, where his warm smile and welcoming presence became a beloved staple as a vendor at Agility and AKC shows. Yet, it was in the simple rhythms of life where George’s soul truly shined. A passionate fan of classic rock, he loved nothing more than losing himself in the vibrant energy of a live concert, or spending quiet, peaceful hours teaching himself to play the guitar—finding comfort, joy, and fulfillment in every chord he mastered. Nothing brought out his trademark grin and playful fire quite like game days with his lifelong best friend, Brian Canario; whether throwing darts, playing softball, or bowling, those times were filled with endless teasing and unforgettable laughs. Come autumn, that same competitive spirit turned toward his beloved San Francisco 49ers, making Sunday football a sacred weekly ritual that brought him pure joy. George leaves behind a legacy of love, warmth, and devotion. He is survived by his loving significant other and companion in life, Sharon Haahr. George’s heart grew even larger through the foundational and nurturing role he played in raising Sharon’s daughter, Annabelle Vitali, whom he loved with all his heart. He will also be deeply missed and forever remembered by his loving sister, Sara Dean, brother-in-law, Les Dean, and sister-in-law, Carol Luiz, who carry his memory so closely in their hearts. George has now been peacefully reunited in eternal rest with his beloved parents, George and Rose Luiz, and his dear brother, Anthony Luiz. In lieu of flowers, his faithful dogs Buster, Herbie, and Ralph ask that you remember their Dad by making a donation in his name to the Humane Society Silicon Valley, continuing his lifelong love for animals.
