In Loving Memory

George Jones
September 7, 1951 — August 5, 2026
George, a beloved resident of Cleveland, Ohio, was born on September 7, 1951, and left this world peacefully at home on August 5, 2000, after a courageous battle with lung cancer. George was a loving husband, father, grandfather, teacher, and friend, whose life was a testament to kindness, resilience, and love.
The son of John and Dana Jones, George was raised in a family that valued education and community. He carried these values into his career, dedicating 25 years of his life to teaching science at John Adams High School. George had an innate ability to ignite curiosity and inspire young minds, leaving an indelible mark on countless students who fondly remember his quick wit and warm smile.
In 1988, George married the love of his life, Janice, in a heartfelt ceremony in Cleveland. Together, they shared 35 wonderful years, filled with laughter and love, until Janice’s untimely passing. Their union was blessed with five healthy children, who were his pride and joy. As a father and grandfather to five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren, George’s legacy of love and generosity continues to flourish.
George was a man of simple pleasures, finding joy in the sunlight and the sea. He loved tending to his vegetable garden, often sharing the bounty of his lovingly grown tomatoes with neighbors and friends. His generosity knew no bounds, and his kindness touched everyone he met.
A service to celebrate George’s life will be held on August 21, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Andrews Baptist Church. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to a charity of your choice, honoring George’s spirit of giving.
As we remember George, we hold dear the special message from his family: “Forever in our hearts.” His memory will continue to inspire all who knew him, reminding us to live with the same warmth and generosity that he embodied throughout his life.
