It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of George Calvin "Pookie" McGee, a beloved son, brother, father, partner, and friend, who departed this world peacefully at his home on December 2, 2025, at the age of 62. George was born on November 25, 1963, in Los Angeles, California, to his loving parents, George McGee and Juliet Borders. George, affectionately known as "Pookie" to family and friends, lived a life full of warmth, humor, and unwavering loyalty. He was a beacon of light to those fortunate enough to know him, and his legacy of kindness and generosity will be cherished forever. George served his country with honor as a member of the United States Army from 1983 to 1986. His service reflected his deep sense of duty, and he carried the values of integrity and resilience throughout his life. Upon returning home, George dedicated himself to his family and community, becoming a cherished and respected figure to all who crossed his path. For 15 wonderful years, George shared his life with his loving partner, Sharon Glenn. Together, they created a home filled with laughter, love, and many cherished memories. Although George did not have grandchildren, he found immense joy and pride in his daughter, Heaven Dorsey-McGee, whose happiness and success were his life's greatest achievements. George is survived by his adoring parents, George McGee and Juliet Borders, who remember him as a devoted son whose love knew no bounds. He is also survived by his siblings, Tallesia Borders, Curtis McGee, Alonzo McGee, and Cedrica Straker, who will forever cherish the countless memories and the profound bond they shared with their brother. In addition, a host of family and friends mourn his loss while celebrating the beautiful life he led. A service to honor and celebrate George's life will be held on April 7, 2026, at 1:00 PM at Inglewood Park Cemetery, located at 720 E Florence Ave, Inglewood, CA 90301. Family, friends, and all who knew George are invited to gather in remembrance of a man who touched so many lives with his warmth and compassion. The family would like to extend their deepest gratitude to everyone for their love and support during this difficult time. Your kindness and comforting words have been a source of strength and solace, reminding us of the vast community of hearts George touched throughout his life. Though George's physical presence will be deeply missed, his spirit will forever remain in the hearts of those who loved him. May we all find comfort in the memories of his laughter, his unwavering support, and his boundless love.
