George Bicknell Taylor

In loving memory of George Bicknell Taylor, who peacefully passed away at home on August 3, 2026, in the embrace of his beloved family. Born on October 18, 1962, in Richmond, Virginia, George was a cherished son of the late Walter and Joan Taylor. He was also predeceased by his dear brothers Walter, William (Billy), and David Taylor. George's journey through life was marked by love, dedication, and an unwavering commitment to his family and community. He leaves behind his devoted wife, Suzanne Donelan Taylor, with whom he shared 22 beautiful years of marriage, having wed on his birthday in 2003. Together, they nurtured a blended family, raising four sons: Bradley Ryan Taylor, Matthew Austin Taylor, Kristopher Paul Martin, and Michael Patrick Martin. George's legacy of love and laughter lives on in his grandchildren: Denver Raylan Taylor, Winona Grace Taylor, Memphis James Taylor, and Nash Colton Taylor, who fondly knew him as Pop Pop. A proud graduate of Varina High School in 1981, George specialized in automotive body repair, a skill that fueled his successful career in the automotive industry. He managed numerous body shops across metro Richmond, including Emrick Chevrolet, Dorns, Dominion Auto Group, and more. His passion for teaching led him to inspire young minds at Virginia Randolph High School, where he shared his knowledge of automotive body repair. George's community spirit was evident through his volunteer work as a youth baseball coach and board member of the Varina Youth Sports League. He took great pride in coaching his sons and grandson, imbuing them with the same love for the game that he cherished. An avid NASCAR fan, George could often be found cheering for the number 24 car, enjoying a Captain Morgan and Pepsi, and savoring a cigar. Summers found him delighting in the tranquility of Rappahannock River country, making memories riding a golf cart at various campgrounds in the Northern Neck. George was known for his selfless nature, often lending a helping hand to family and friends. His talent with tools and knack for home improvement projects were matched only by his playful sense of humor, which endeared him to all who knew him. Affectionately called Bicky by his aunts and uncles and Jorge by his sons, George was a beloved figure in the lives of his family. George is survived by his siblings, Susan Taylor Cavaliere, Bruce Wayne Taylor, and Theresa Taylor Morgan, who will forever cherish the memories they shared. His family extends their heartfelt gratitude to friends, neighbors, and work colleagues for their unwavering support during his recent illness. A celebration of George's life will be held with a viewing on August 7, 2026 at Nelsen's Funeral Home from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. and with a funeral service on August 8, 2026, at 3:00 PM at Nelsen's Funeral Home, located at 4650 South Laburnum Ave., Henrico, VA 23231. Following the funeral service, a reception will be hosted by the family at 5 p.m. at the Mechanicsville Moose Lodge at 7167 Flag Lane, Mechanicsville, VA.
