June 7, 1954 — April 8, 2026

It is with heavy hearts and profound sadness that we announce the passing of George Bailey Sr., a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, who peacefully departed this life on April 8, 2026, at the age of 71. Born in Shreveport, Louisiana, on June 7, 1954, George was a man whose life was a testament to love, dedication, and an unwavering commitment to making those around him feel valued and cherished. George was the cherished son of Robert Bailey and Arleder McKinney, who precede him in death, alongside his beloved grandparents, George and Charlotte McKinney, and his baby brother, William David McKinney. Despite these losses, George's life was filled with the love and support of a large and devoted family. For over 50 years, George shared a beautiful marriage with his loving wife, Lavern Bailey. Together, they raised two wonderful sons, George and Scott Bailey, and were blessed with a grandson, Alex Bailey, who brought immense joy to George's life. His family was his greatest pride, and he delighted in every moment spent with them, creating lasting memories filled with laughter and love. A dedicated professional, George graduated from Captain Shreve High School in 1972 and embarked on a career that spanned over three decades as a real estate agent and a life insurance agent. His work was not merely a job but a vocation through which he touched the lives of countless individuals, offering guidance and support with genuine care and integrity. George was a long-standing member of the Duncanville Church of Christ, where he found not only spiritual solace but also a community he cherished dearly. For more than 30 years, he was a constant presence, known for his welcoming smile and the warmth he extended to everyone he met. His passions in life were as varied as they were profound. George found joy in the sports of racquetball, football, and basketball, but his greatest happiness came from the time spent with his family and friends. He was a man who could make anyone feel at home, with a smile that turned strangers into friends and a heart that embraced all with kindness. George's legacy is carried forward by his wife, Lavern, his sons George and Scott, his grandson Alex, and his brothers: Rev. Roy L. Thomas (Lois), Robert Bailey Jr. (Shirley), Anthony R. Bailey (Patsy), Fredrick E. Bailey (Anise), Ricky L. Bailey, and Joseph McKinney (Jackie), as well as a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, coworkers, and business associates who will forever be touched by his kindness and generosity of spirit. A private funeral ceremony will be held to honor George's wishes. The family extends their deepest gratitude to everyone who has been touched by George's kindness and to those who have supported the Bailey family through this difficult time. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you honor George's memory by spreading kindness and compassion to those around you, just as he did throughout his life. George Bailey Sr. will be sorely missed but fondly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
