In Loving Memory

George Augustus (Gus) Isenhart
May 31, 1964 — May 5, 2026
George Augustus "Gus" Isenhart, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, passed peacefully on May 5, 2026, at the age of 61, due to heart failure. Born on May 31, 1964, in Boise, Idaho, Gus was a beacon of joy and kindness to all who knew him. He leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and music that will resonate in the hearts of those who had the privilege to share in his life.
Gus was the cherished son of John Arthur and the late Hazel Irene Isenhart, and the brother of John Robert Isenhart. He was a loving husband to Janice Irwin Isenhart, whom he married on May 17, 1991, and a devoted father to George and Joanna Isenhart. He embraced the role of grandfather with enthusiasm and love, leaving behind six adoring grandchildren who will forever remember his gentle spirit and infectious laughter.
Gus was preceded in death by his grandparents, Carl Henry and Emma Clara Doller Isenhart, his mother, Hazel Irene Dewitt Isenhart, and several aunts and uncles, including Carl Maxwell (Bud) and Shirley Ann Pusey Isenhart, Jesus and Grace Edith Isenhart Egusquiza, and Daryl and Lois Marie Isenhart Knigge. He is survived by a large and loving extended family, including his father, brother, son, daughter-in-law, grandchildren, and numerous cousins, who all held a special place in his heart.
A proud graduate of Glenns Ferry High School, Class of 1982, Gus followed his passion for music to the College of Southern Idaho and later, Northwest Nazarene College. Though his career path led him to the culinary arts in Woodstock, Vermont, his heart found a home in security work at Cactus Pete's in Jackpot, Nevada, and later, at the Wild Horse Casino in Pendleton, Oregon, where he retired after 22 years.
Gus's commitment to community was unwavering. In Pendleton, he became a valued member of the Salvation Army, where his musical talents shone brightly. During the holiday season, his saxophone brought joy and unprecedented donations, as people gathered to hear his soulful melodies. His dedication extended to teaching Sunday School, where he inspired young hearts with his faith and compassion.
An avid fisherman, Gus found peace and joy by the water's edge, often accompanied by friends who cherished his company. His humor and warmth were as constant as his devotion to music, which he practiced diligently, striving always to perfect his craft.
Gus had a remarkable ability to make everyone feel welcome and at ease. His humor lightened hearts, and his kindness offered solace to those in need. He was a man of faith, whose words of God brought comfort and inspiration to many, leaving an indelible impression on all who had the fortune to know him.
A memorial service to celebrate Gus's life will be held on June 28, 2026, at 12:00 PM at the Glenns Rest Cemetery, located at 2005 Frontage Rd., Glenns Ferry, ID, 83623. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to the Salvation Army, an organization close to Gus's heart.
The Isenhart family extends their heartfelt gratitude to Gene Fain, Lari Wilkee, Rick Garcia, Keith Hible, and Robin Ward for their generous support in accompanying Gus to his dialysis appointments in Twin Falls. Your kindness and generosity were immeasurably appreciated and will never be forgotten.
As Henrik Ibsen once penned, "A thousand words will not leave so deep an impression as one deed." In honoring Gus's memory, let us strive to emulate his kindness, humor, and unwavering faith. His life was a testament to the power of love and the joy of giving, and he will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
