With heavy hearts and profound sadness, we announce the passing of George A. Clerk, lovingly known as "Biggie" to his family and friends. George departed this world peacefully in his sleep on September 1, 2026, at the age of 42. George was born on March 10, 1984, in Chicago, Illinois, to Donelle Clerk and George Brooks. He was a cherished son, brother, husband, father, and friend, whose love and warmth touched everyone who knew him. Preceded in death by his father George Brooks, brothers Edward Nelson and Darrell Clerk, and grandparents Verncil and D.C. Kazee, George leaves behind a legacy of love and cherished memories. George’s life was a tapestry woven with love for his family and an unwavering zest for life. He spent his formative years in Chicago, graduating from Medgar Evers Elementary School and then moving to Minneapolis, where he attended Folwell Middle School and Roosevelt High School. His educational journey was marked by a deep curiosity and a love for learning. On July 1, 2000, George met the love of his life, Shannon Gibson. Together, they shared over 26 beautiful years filled with love, laughter, and countless memories. George was a devoted father to his three children: George Clerk, Gordy Clerk, and Georden Clerk. His children were his greatest pride, and he cherished every moment spent with them. An avid fisherman, George found solace and joy on the lake, where he could often be found casting a line and enjoying the tranquility of nature. He also enjoyed bar hopping with his family, creating moments of joy and connection. Above all, George loved being with his family, who were the cornerstone of his life. George's personality was as dynamic as his Pisces sign suggested. He was a lovable, kind-hearted soul whose warmth could light up a room. He was known for his quick wit and the ability to bring smiles to those around him. His love was unconditional, and his presence was a gift to all who knew him. He is survived by his beloved wife Shannon Gibson, his children George, Gordy, and Georden, his mother Donelle Clerk, and his siblings Marcal, Shenda, Shamikka, Brittney, Dominique, Daneequa, Curtis, Sitresse, and Ebony. A celebration of George's life will be held on October 2, 2026, at 2:00 PM at Estes Funeral Chapel, located at 2201 Plymouth Ave N, Minneapolis. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to a charity of your choice in George's honor. The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to everyone for coming out to celebrate the life of George, “Biggie.” He will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who knew and loved him.
