Geogria Jo Kallin
October 29, 1936 — October 19, 2026
Georgia Jo Kallin, a beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully at home on October 19, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family. Born on October 29, 1936, in the quaint town of Burkesville, Kentucky, Georgia was the cherished daughter of James and Cassie Rush. She was predeceased by her devoted husband, Sherman Lee Kallin, Sr., with whom she shared a profound and enduring love, having married on June 1, 1958. Together, they built a life filled with warmth, devotion, and a deep sense of family.
Georgia graduated from Cumberland County High School, embarking on a life rich with purpose and dedication. While she worked at various roles, including as a cashier at the Convenient Food Mart on Esplanade Ave. and a daycare worker, her heart was most content when she was at home, nurturing her children as a stay-at-home mom. She also delighted in crafting homemade soaps, which she joyfully sold at summer festivals and fairs, sharing her creativity and spirit with the community.
Her faith was a cornerstone of her life. An active member of Kenwood United Methodist Church during the 1960s and 70s, Georgia found joy and fulfillment in her church activities. Her commitment to her faith continued as she became a member of several other churches throughout her life, always finding ways to contribute and connect with her community.
Georgia’s legacy is carried forward by her loving children, Pamela, Sherman, Robert, and Barry, who were her pride and joy. Her family grew to include eight grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren, each of whom brought her immeasurable happiness and whose lives she impacted with her gentle wisdom and boundless love.
The family kindly requests that, in lieu of flowers, contributions be made to a charity of your choice, honoring Georgia’s generous spirit and her lifelong dedication to giving.
