It is with heavy hearts and profound sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved Gennie Hudson Jackson, who departed this world on Saturday, May 9, 2026, at the age of 64. Gennie passed away peacefully in the comfort of her home in Jacksonville, Florida, surrounded by the love of her family.
Born on July 1, 1961, in Meriweather County, Gennie was a cherished daughter, sister, mother, grandmother, and friend. She was the beloved daughter of Charlie and Johnnie Mae Hixson, who nurtured her spirit of kindness and strength from an early age. She grew up in a loving family environment in Troup County, where she received her education and laid the foundation for a life characterized by service, dedication, and love.
Gennie dedicated a significant part of her life to serving her country with honor and distinction in the United States Army until her retirement. Her time in the military instilled in her a deep sense of duty and perseverance, qualities that she carried with her throughout her career and personal life. After her military service, Gennie contributed her talents to the Internal Revenue Service, where she was known for her professionalism and commitment.
A woman of many interests, Gennie was happiest when surrounded by her family. She had a passion for shopping, crafting, and reading, pursuits that brought her immense joy and allowed her to express her creativity. Her love for these activities was only surpassed by her love for her family, who were the center of her world.
Gennie was the beloved mother of Ahmad (Nyla) Jackson and Amiya (Devin) Jackson, who carry forward her legacy of love and resilience. She was the proud grandmother of three beautiful grandchildren, who brought immense joy to her life. Gennie’s nurturing spirit extended to her extended family; she leaves behind a devoted mother, Johnnie Mae Hixson, and her father, Charlie Hixson, along with his wife, Yvonne. She is also survived by one sister-in-law, four nephews, one niece, one great nephew, and one great niece, all of whom she loved dearly.
Gennie was predeceased by one sister, two brothers, and her maternal grandmother. Though they have gone before her, the love and memories shared will remain forever in the hearts of those she leaves behind.
A service celebrating Gennie's remarkable life will be held on Saturday, May 23, 2026, at 11:00 AM at the New Community Church, located at 1200 South Davis Road, LaGrange, GA. Family, friends, and all those whose lives were touched by Gennie are invited to gather and honor her memory.
