She was the beloved daughter of the late James and Annie Byrd, whose values of kindness and hospitality she carried throughout her life.
Geneva's life was a testament to the power of love and community. She was predeceased by her parents and her dear siblings, Thelma Byrd, Angie Byrd, Carl Byrd, Earl Byrd, and Johnny Smith. Despite these losses, her heart remained full, and her spirit unbroken, as she found solace and strength in the family she built and the friendships she nurtured.
A proud graduate of Apex High School, Geneva ventured into the world with a passion for life that was contagious. Her career began on the assembly line at Kellog in Apex, where she dedicated over two decades, earning the respect and admiration of her colleagues. Later, she brought her compassion and nurturing spirit to her role in home health care in Durham, touching the lives of many with her gentle care and genuine concern.
Geneva was the life of every party, known for lighting up the dance floor with her infectious energy and radiant smile. Her culinary skills were legendary, and her home was a haven for anyone in need of a warm meal or a comforting word. Her door was always open, her table always set, and her heart always welcoming.
Her greatest pride and joy were her family. Geneva is survived by her loving daughters, Veronica "Tink" Wright, Annet "Cookie" Lipscomb, and Shirley "Ladybug" Smith, who were the center of her world. She was the cherished grandmother to six adoring grandchildren: Derick "Jamal" Bullock, Desheila Wright, Deshalla "Fatcat" Wright, Demetrius "Peewee" Bullock, Johnny "Jay" Wright, and Shapika "Scooter" Lipscomb. Geneva's legacy continues through her 18 precious great-grandchildren, along with countless cousins and dear family friends who will hold her memory close.
Among the many stories treasured by her family is the unforgettable road trip to New York with her grandson Demetrius. No amount of his playful complaining could dim her joy, as she effortlessly turned every moment into a memorable adventure, ensuring laughter and smiles all around.
Geneva's life will be celebrated on March 27, 2026, at 12:00 PM at the Albright Funeral Home Chapel, located at 500 South Salem St, Apex, NC 27502. Her family invites all who loved her to join in honoring a life lived with grace, humor, and unending love.
