Gene Michaud

August 24, 1932 — April 16, 2026

Gene Michaud, a beloved father, grandfather, educator, and friend, passed away peacefully on April 16, 2026, at the age of 93, surrounded by his devoted family. Gene was born on August 24, 1932, in the vibrant city of Boston, Massachusetts, to his loving parents, Joseph and Hazel Michaud, who preceded him in death. He joins his cherished siblings Honey, Norman, and Margie in eternal rest. Gene's life was a tapestry of service, learning, and joy. He answered the call to serve his country at a young age, enlisting in the U.S. Marines in 1950. During his four years of service, Gene honed his skills as an airplane mechanic, a profession that would become a cornerstone of his career. After leaving the Marines, he continued to nurture his passion for aviation by working as an airplane mechanic for United Airlines, where he was respected and admired by his colleagues. Never one to rest on his laurels, Gene pursued higher education, earning his Bachelor's Degree from Fitchburg State College. He found his true calling in education, sharing his wealth of knowledge and passion for mechanics with countless students during his tenure as an auto mechanics teacher at Tri-County Regional High School in Franklin, MA. Gene's impact as a teacher extended far beyond the classroom; he inspired a generation of young minds to dream big and work diligently towards their goals. A man of many interests, Gene was a proud member of the American Legion, where he formed lifelong friendships and continued to serve his community. He was an avid ham radio operator, a hobby that connected him to people from all walks of life and all corners of the globe. Gene also cherished the simple joys of life, especially dancing, which he did with an infectious enthusiasm and a twinkle in his eye. Gene was known for his sharp wit and humor, always ready with a joke to bring laughter to those around him. His warmth and charisma were magnetic, drawing people in and leaving a lasting impression on everyone he met. He is survived by his loving son, Don, and his daughter-in-law, Janice, who were a constant source of pride and joy. Gene was a devoted grandfather to Zak and Julie, who brought immense happiness into his life and who will forever cherish the memories made with their beloved "Gramps." Gene's family will hold a private ceremony to honor his life, reflecting his wishes to be remembered in a manner befitting his character—simple, sincere, and surrounded by those he loved most. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to a charity of choice in Gene's memory, a fitting tribute to a man who dedicated his life to the service of others. As we say goodbye to Gene, we celebrate a life well-lived, full of laughter, learning, and love. His spirit will continue to inspire all who had the privilege of knowing him, and his legacy will endure through the lives he touched. Rest in peace, dear Gene, in the arms of your loved ones who have gone before, and in the hearts of those who remain.
